Protect me, minions!

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is ever-so creeping up on us and we shouldn't forget this great looking co-op title, despite its coming arrival on last gen hardware. The new Dev Diary #3 video discusses the playable characters of the game and what players can expect to see with their personal story lines.

If you recall during Borderlands 2, Wilhelm is Handsome Jack's faithful robot that proves to be a challenge for the Vault Hunters. In this game, Wilhelm the Enforcer is a badass who slowly but surely becomes more machine than man as players progress the character. Various mechanized attacks, including the ability to summon drones that both attack and defend, gives Wilhelm  ton of options to tech up and contrasts the other playable characters quite well.

Nisha the Lawbringer is an interesting Wild West type of character (Handsome Jack's girlfriend in Borderlands 2), who has a unique melee weapon: a whip. For the first time, players can attack enemies at medium range using her melee, as well as dishing out massive hurt with her various gun abilities. Her powers revolve around her ability to auto aim most enemies on screen in a bullet time-esc fashion, buffing your weapons in various ways.

Athena the Gladiator from the General Knoxx DLC is a character that a lot of people will gravitate towards, if not for her epic ability. Her main power involves the use of her shield, which both defends you and can be used as a massive attack. Any damage absorbed by the shield is stored, which can then be dished back at the enemy once the shield is thrown. If you like Captain America, then go with Athena.

Finally, everyone's favorite robot Claptrap the Fragtrap makes his way into the game. His silliness carries over into his main ability, which seems to induce a random status effect to everyone and every enemy on the field. Additionally, since he loves to dance, he can summon a disco ball that does a damage-over-time effect to all enemies in close proximity.

Borderlands the Pre-Sequel arrives on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC this October 14th. Don't forget about the 20% preorder discount going on for PC!
