MMO Co-Opportunities Volume LXXX: New Dungeons, Raids, and Powersets

New content for ESO, Secret World Legends, and DC Universe Online

Hard to believe it, but it’s September already, which heralds a brand new fall season. This month on MMOCO, we’ll be looking at the console release of a new piece DLC for Elder Scrolls Online, a new raid for Secret World Legends, and a new water powerset for DC Universe Online.

Horns of the Reach Now Out on All Platforms
The new “Horns of the Reach” DLC for Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) launched on Mac and PC in the middle of August, but it took a couple more weeks for it to arrive on the consoles. Now it’s available for all players, regardless of their platform.

As with most of the DLC packs for ESO, “Horns of the Reach” adds a good amount of content. This time, two new 4-player dungeons have been introduced (Bloodroot Forge and Falkreath Hold), both focusing on the Dreadhorn Clan. Both dungeons offer new item sets, monster masks, achievements, and collectables. They can be accessed either by visiting them on foot in their Craglorn zone locations, or queueing for them in the Group & Activity Finder.

This DLC pack is included for free with an active membership of ESO Plus, or can alternatively be picked up for 1500 Crowns ($15). There’s also a limited edition “Horns of the Reach Collector’s Bundle” for 3500 Crowns that comes with the DLC as well as a new mount (the Karthwolf Charger), a new pet (Karthwolf Shepard pup), and five Crown XP Scrolls.

Manhattan Exclusion Zone Raid Introduced in Secret World Legends
A new raid has launched in Secret World Legends, the recently overhauled Funcom MMO. Entitled “Manhattan Exclusion Zone,” the 10-person raid pits the players against the Unutterable Lurker, who made its first appearance at the end of the game’s tutorial mission. As an endgame raid (only level 50 players can enter), the Manhattan Exclusion Zone offers new Extraordinary Weapons, Talismans, achievements, pets, and outfits for players who defeat this massive foe.

Multiple difficulty levels are supported for this new raid and it does have a timed lockout. Players who meet the level requirement for this new raid can access it through the game’s Activity Finder.

Water Powerset Available in DC Universe Online
I’ll admit that I don’t keep the sharpest eye on the going-ons of DCUO, so I was a bit shocked to discover that the Water Powerset had only just been added to go the game. Offering control, shielding, and construct creation effects, the Water Powerset was inspired by the powers of Aquaman, Mera, and Aqualad.

As an Aquaman (because he’s so lame, it’s awesome) and Mera (because she’s a badass) fan, I wholeheartedly approve of the new powerset. Creating sharks from water to slam into your foes? Sign me up. Now if only they’d included a power to slowly and tortuously dehydrate your enemies, like Mera did in the New 52 run.

That about wraps things up for this month’s column. Are you playing any of this new content for ESO, Secret World Legends, or DCUO? If not, is there any other MMO content you’re enjoying these days? Let us know in the comments below.
