MMO Co-Opportunities Volume CV: Dragons, Tamers, and Vales

Big content updates for ESO, Black Desert Online, and LotRO

Halloween has passed and we’re into the days of fall where the weather begins turning a bit cooler. Time to bundle up with some updates to MMOs! In this issue of MMOCO, we have content patches and expansions for The Elder Scrolls Online, Black Desert Online, and Lord of the Rings Online.

ESO’s Dragonhold DLC and Update 24 Patch Now Live
Dragonhold, the latest DLC for The Elder Scrolls Online is now live on all platforms. This DLC brings a new zone (Southern Elsweyr), a new main story, and new side quests, world bosses, and delves. It’s free to all current ESO Plus members and purchasable separately in the in-game Crown Store for 2000 Crowns (roughly $20).

Update 24 (a free patch), which launched alongside the Dragonhold DLC, also brought performance improvements to the game. These improvements include better game stability (thanks to altered memory use) and a rebuilt Looking For Group system. Twitch Drops for Xbox One and PS4 have also been introduced with this update, meaning that console players can now link their ESO accounts to Twitch to receive rewards from specific ESO streams.

Striker and Tamer Added to Black Desert Online on PS4
Last week, the Striker and Tamer classes landed on the PS4 version of Black Desert Online. The Striker is a hand-to-hand combatant who uses deadly kicks and punches to take down his foes. The Tamer fights alongside a divine beast companion, taking down their foes with powerful AoE attacks.

This update also added a new World Boss (Karanda) and a new skill called Rabam Skills. Rabam Skills allows characters to combine two skills together after reaching level 56. You can check out a trailer for the latest PS4 update below:

Minas Morgul Expansion Out Now for Lord of the Rings Online
The latest expansion for LotRO quietly released on November 5th. Entitled “Minas Morgul,” this expansion takes players to two new regions: the Morgul Vale and Mordor Besieged. The character level cap has been raised to 130, the Warden and Rune-keeper classes have been retweaked (overall buffed), and there are new Crafting Guild benefits.

Some expansion elements, such as the Shelob Lair and some new instances (including Tier 2 and Tier 3 versions of the Minas Morgul expansion instances), will be released at a later date. Full patch notes for the update coinciding with the Minas Morgul expansion (Update 25) are available on LotRO’s forums.

That wraps it up for this month. Hope everyone is staying warm and cozy in these chilly fall days.
