Gearing Up for PAX

The Co-Opticrew has their gear together and are ready to take flight to PAX 2009! Above you can see the motley assortment of gadgets, books, stickers, and underwear in prep for the next five days.

Can you guess who is bringing what? Here's an excerpted master list of notable items:

Book - Sharpe's Enemy Digital recorder Digital camera (x3) Moleskin notebook iPhone (x2) MacBook laptop Nintendo DS (x3) Sony PSP Well-used Dell Latitude laptop Alienware M17x laptop Digital SLR camera Google G2 phone Flask Blackberry World Edition

Kat Pawlowski

What is the most important item that you are taking with you?
My computer - it's hard to think of anything I'll need more to relay the wonderful events as they happen.

What are you looking forward to the most at PAX?
Meeting with the different gaming communities, meeting my friends, and flexing my journalism muscles to see if I'm at least on the right track with this college thing!

What will you miss the most while you're away from home?
Sleep. I would imagine we'll have quite the shortage of it at PAX!

What is your goal for this trip?
For PAX 2009, the thing I'm most looking forward to is making connections in the industry, and raising awareness for Co-optimus. I'd imagine a lot of people enjoy playing co-op, and more people need to know we exist! Otherwise, I'll definitely appreciate getting a first-hand look at a lot of games to be delivered directly to the co-optimus members, instead of getting second-hand news this time!

What is the most important item that you are taking with you?
For me, it's my Google phone. Camera + Twitter mobile + Google Calendar and Apps = my favorite tool, and a great time-waster.

What are you looking forward to the most at PAX?
I can't wait to meet people. Anyone. Whoever wants to shake my hand.

What will you miss the most while you're away from home?
My wife and daughter, hands down. They are my life.

What surprises do you think are in store for PAX?
I have no clue what I'm getting into, but I'm sure I'll be bombarded at every angle. I would like to be surprised by a new Star Wars Battlefront announcement...as doubtful as that is.

What is the most important item that you are taking with you?
The most important item there would have to be the notebook. It's a nice Moleskin that Mike and his wife gave me as a gift for my birthday earlier this year and I'm finally getting a chance to put it to use! While the laptop will help get everything out to the Co-Optimus community, those articles will start in that notebook

What are you looking forward to the most at PAX?
Like Kat, I can't wait to meet up with folks from all the different communities (Co-Optimus folks definitely come say hi to us all!), meeting my fellow Co-Optimus staffers for the first time, and pretty much the whole thing itself. PAX is just fun centralized in one location.

What will you miss the most while you're away from home?
This is a tough question to answer because I really like the Seattle area and PAX is pretty awesome so I'm going to say... I dunno... the ghost of Abraham Lincoln?

How do you plan to enjoy yourself at PAX?
Last year, I went to PAX not really knowing what it was like or what I was getting into. I pretty much ran everywhere and tried everything. This year, I plan to relax a little more. I've got a bunch of different things that I'll be covering for Co-Optimus, but I'm looking forward to just chatting with folks more and talking about the games instead of just running from booth to booth playing a demo.

What is the most important item that you are taking with you?
Laptop, hands down.  Without it how can I cover the show?  My camera is a close second though.     What are you looking forward to the most at PAX?
Seeing all my friends again, meeting new friends, and building new relationships with companies.  There's always the surprises that come with events like these too, can't wait to see what that is.  On the game front I can't wait to get my hands on Borderlands!
What will you miss the most while you're away from home? While I'm gone I'm sure I won't miss much, I'll be to busy to think about it, but when it all comes crashing to a close it'll be nice to get back home to the family.       So there you have it: the crew are ready to meet, greet, and play games! We hope that you enjoyed this fun little pre-PAX write-up, and make sure to follow along at the Co-Optimus PAX Coverage page, where you can win an Xbox 360 Pro and watch our Twitter feeds in real-time.
