Freedom Wars Wants You to Fight Giant Monsters, Cooperatively

NEWS 8:00 AM on 5/23/2013 by John Bardinelli

Japan Studio recently released a video showing off Freedom Wars (formerly thought to be titled Panopticon), a dystopian action game filled with guns, mechs, and massive enemies. Set in the year 102013, the ruined Earth is essentially a battleground where convicted criminals are sent to fight giant monsters as punishment. And since everyone who commits a crime is found guilty, there's always some sort of epic battle going down.

NEWS 6:40 AM on 5/23/2013 by Sam Tyler

Poo, plop, doodoo, fart, stink, stench; just some names that must have gone through developer Casual Brothers' mind when thinking of names for characters in Orc Attack: Flatulent Rebellion.  None of these options cut the mustard, or the cheese, so they instead settled on Friar Krap.  Check out the biog trailer for this man of the touching cloth.

With all the excitement yesterday I forgot to mention Sniper Elite V2 is now available on the Nintendo Wii U. Okay, there wasn't really that much excitement -but someone may have left this fun little shooter off the Co-Op Release alert for this week because the same someone may have made a typo when entering the game into the database. What's the difference between 21 and 31? About ten days. Oh well.

Thunder Wolves Co-Op Review

Review 12:23 PM on 5/22/2013 by Locke Vincent

Suit up and strap in because Thunder Wolves is here to take you for an adrenaline-filled ride. Thunder Wolves comes at a perfect time, filling a serious void of arcade-style flight combat games. Bitcomposer and Most Wanted Entertainment have crafted a chopper action game with a forgettable story that is compensated for by the sheer number of explosions. Summon your inner pilot from the 80's and get ready for some good old fashioned napalm.

Sanctum 2 Update Changes Co-Op Resource Sharing

NEWS 10:00 AM on 5/22/2013 by John Bardinelli

Sanctum 2 was unleashed to the world last week, and our co-op review spills the details from beginning to end. It wasn't quite the experience we were expecting to follow the original Sanctum, as the sequel focuses on action and combat, leaving out a lot of the finer bits of strategy. We also weren't too keen on the "one player gets the resources" element of co-op mode, which often turned great rounds of team-based alien fighting into "NO FAIR MY TURN".

Good news from D3 Publisher, a name you probably recognize as the publisher of the Puzzle Quest series as well as all those Ben 10 titles you hide in your sock drawer. The studio is teaming up with Cartoon Network once again to release Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW!, a co-op action game currently under development by WayForward!

Pushmasters Shoves its Way to XBLIG

NEWS 8:00 AM on 5/22/2013 by John Bardinelli

Indie studio BitMaverick recently unleashed Pushmasters on Xbox Live Indie Games, a co-op arcade game that's all about love and flowers and cats and stuff. Kidding, it's actually a game about shoving everything off of rooftops, rockets and frozen mountainsides, which sounds like way more fun than those other things. Although, full disclosure: there's at least one reference to cats.

NEWS 8:08 PM on 5/21/2013 by Christopher Metz

Wii U owners may have been a little disappointed that they’d have to wait for Pikmin 3’s launch later this year, but delaying its release may have been a great choice for Nintendo to make.  As revealed by Satoru Iwata, Pikmin 3 will now have multiple control variations to suit almost everyone’s way to play, among the new features found within the gameplay itself.

Xbox One To Charge Fees for 2nd Installs, No Backwards Compatibility

NEWS 3:31 PM on 5/21/2013 by Nick Puleo

As details are being revealed from the unveiling of the Xbox One, it appears Microsoft is going to be changing what it means to "own a game."  The changes could have a drastic affect on the used and rental market for games while also making it easier for co-op gamers in a single household. How are they going to do that? Every game for the Xbox One will be installed to the hard drive, and if you want to install a game to another Xbox Live Account you'll need to pay a fee. Perhaps this is the end to having to buy multiple copies of games to play co-op in one house?

Microsoft Unveils the Xbox One

NEWS 3:03 PM on 5/21/2013 by Nick Puleo

Microsoft has officially unveiled their next generation console which will launch later this year. It's called the Xbox One  - bucking the trend of sequential numbering or the rumored Xbox 720, Xbox Infinity, and everything else. The one hour presentation focused on the console itself and the entertainment, architecture and partnerships around it. Perhaps we are seeing the end of the term "videogame console" as there wasn't a single game to be found until 32 minutes into the presentation.

Diablo 3 Console Port Designed Around Controller Interaction

NEWS 11:26 AM on 5/21/2013 by Jason Love

While there is quite a bit of buzz in the air today for Microsoft's big reveal of the next Xbox, Sony is working on putting out as much information as possible to get folks excited for the PlayStation 4. This includes discussion of the console port of the popular action-RPG, Diablo 3, which recently celebrated a year anniversary since it first saw release on the PC. A console port of the game seemed highly unlikely at first, despite the great deal of speculation, but along with the announcement of the PS4 came the bit of news that had thousands across the internet shouting "I KNEW IT!" This was immediately followed by a thousand more cynical statements of, "psh, it'll never work. PC MASTER RACE!"
