Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends goes Live March 25th

Don't expect Dong Zhuo to make an appearance at the X Games.

Folks throw a lot of well-deserved flak at the Dynasty Warriors franchise, so they've decided to up their game by naming the newest title Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends, available on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and the PS Vita March 25th in the US, and April 4th in the UK. Not only are they trying to appeal to the hardcore crowd, but they have a tenuous grasp on how to sound cool in English, and also because it worked so well for Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball.

Let me back up.

Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends is a fusion of the two player co-op Dynasty Warriors 8 and the "Xtreme Legends" expansion pack for PlayStation 3. Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends Complete Edition is the port for PlayStation 4 and the PS Vita. Now, you can finally experience the magic of the Yellow Turban Rebellion in stunning next gen.

Let's take a look at the trailer for Dynasty Warriors 8 because you need some rockin' guitar while a dude on a horse kills like a hundred guys.

Everybody knows the story of the Yellow Turban Rebellion and how a bunch of immortal god-like princes, kings, and warriors conquered the entirety of the Middle Kingdom. This exact same story been told eight times, not including the countless spin-off games. And while the franchise has come a long way from rendering like eight opponents on the screen filled with nothing but fog, trudging through these games is kind of mind-numbing, even with a friend to spear/sword/random bizarre weapon through hundreds of faceless, soulless peasants by your side.

Some of you might enjoy the Dynasty Warriors games. That's fine, there is nothing wrong with that. There is something to be said about grabbing a buddy and conquering the entirety of classical China, province by province. I just wish they'd take a stab at something different and spice up gameplay that has endured agonizingly little changes since the PS2 era. Come on, ya'll. You can spruce this stuff up.
