Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Saves will Transfer to the Xbox One Version

Immortalize your achievements despite swapping consoles.

With over 12 million copies sold, people must've been logging in countless hours into Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. Not only have folks constructed massive fortresses and endless mines, but they've spent time exploring their worlds. They know the game's randomly generated landmarks, the best paths to outposts they've constructed between castles, and all the places in between. Playing on a Minecraft file for a while makes that cubical world feel a lot like home, which makes it so hard to put it to bed.

But fear not, 360 users! Phil Spencer has announced via Twitter the 360 save files will be transferable to your shiny new Xbox Ones. You can carry your legacy with you, and abandon all fear of losing your cozy world.

This is probably not big news to those who don't play Minecraft. After all, saves to games get lost all the time. A faulty memory card here, a smoking hard drive there. You can only sigh and shake your head, and learn to live on. Somehow.

But Minecraft makes you feel that the worlds you and your friends dwell in are specifically yours. Completely random in generation, each world is unique to those who've played it. It's almost like each world is a different version of the game. That can carry a whole lot of meaning to some players.

Of course, I could be putting too much importance on this, but whatever. That's killer, Microsoft! Good on you. Of course, no one knows when the Xbox One version will be out, so... Keep on plugging away at the 360 version!
