It's been a year since the Divinity: Original Sin Kickstarter ended with over a million dollars. This homage to the top-down RPGs of old is finally ready to make a (full) debut to the world. The official release date for Divinity: Original Sin is June 20th, coming in at $39.99. The game has been on Steam's Early Access for a while, where you can still pick it up immediately if you're desperate to play it.
Check out their release date trailer, which also serves as a "thank you" to their Kickstarter supporters.
Those comparison shots are super intriguing. The previous iteration of the game resembles mid-90's RPGs, while the updated version looks like a modern video game. I guess that's the difference a million dollars can make in development for a small studio.
I'm terribly curious just how much Divinity feels like its inspirations. We have a preview from a few months back, though plenty has changed from then. Larian Studios continues to update as the official release date marches forward. We'll see the final product soon enough.
