This just in, from the "Why Didn't We Think of This First?" department. Following up on a few previous news stories here, we bring you GamesRadar's list of the Top 7 Games that Should've Had Co-Op. I must say, the list is a good one, though there are a few that should be there that aren't.
7. Jericho 6. Killzone 2 (shoulda been higher)
5. GTA IV (head scratcher) 4. Rise of the Kasai
3. Call of Duty 4 (hope for 6?) 2. Golden Axe Beast Rider (we think so!)
The number one game that should've had co-op? Grab a pizza and check it out.
What game comes to mind as a title you wish had co-op? My first thought was God of War. Slinging those chains around, the blood, the carnage, the fun puzzle elements... all of it would have been so much more fun with a friend. (Who would be cool enough to partner up with Kratos, though? Hmm.) What say you, dear readers?

What the hell?
I just realized I've been playing so many co-op games for the last year, I'm not sure what to even recommend as an addition to the list. Dead Rising could have been very cool with co-op, particularly given the number of survivors in the game. Player 1 could have stuck with Frank while Player 2 could switch between survivors until they found one they liked. Rather than have a Game Over if Player 2 dies, they just have to switch to a new survivor. It wouldn't have required altering the story at all.
One of the reasons I have one of the TMNT games for the Gamecube is because you could unlock the original arcade game. Once I unlocked it I stopped playing the campaign.
And more importantly, the Lost and the Damned DLC should have added new co-op modes. They even talked about how you feel like apart of a gang, yet no new co-op mode to help you play WITH your gang?
Aside from that, I'll say the remade Bionic Commando that was originally co-op but it was yanked at the end.
Love roland's suggestion, though I've talked about that before too. JG has a good point about games trying to hype belonging in a group or something but not having co-op! There IS no belonging if it's just me and the AI!
On a side note, I saw some speculation that perhaps DR2 will have co-op. Since so few details are known, we can hope, right?
Thought of another one though: Maniac Mansion. I always wished that could have been co-op, or at least they'd release a new version of it. That or The Lost Vikings just scream co-op to me.
I'm pretty sure that Lost Vikings was co-op, two player. Both players could alternate control of which Viking they wanted to use. Maybe not every version of it, but I swear I remember playing the SNES version with a friend.
A co-op LucasArts style adventure game would be awesome! I've been playing Grim Fandango off and on for a couple of months. Tam usually watches me and it's been her that's figured out some of the puzzles.

Developers need to really take a second and realize why games like Halo are so popular. Yeah, a part of if is because of Microsoft's massive marketing, but I bet 25% of people who buy that game are only going to buy it for those times when they can get some friends in the room and play splitscreen (I'm certainly included in that category, and I seem to play online with a lot of people who have guest accounts logged in!)
I'm afraid that unless KZ2 is going to have better multiplayer than Halo, that it's just going to collect dust with my other non-split screen games.
