Resident Evil 5 Requires a 5GB Install on the PS3

Just a quick PSA - if you are planning on snagging Resident Evil 5 this Friday on the PlayStation 3, you might want to make sure you have enough free space on your drive as the game is going to require a 5GB install to get up and running. It would be quite embarrassing to try to set up a co-op session with a buddy only to have to say - "sorry dude, I gotta clear up some hard drive space."
This isn't anything new for PS3 owners, as plenty of games have had the requirement, but if you own a 20GB PS3 you are probably juggling a lot of saved games and installs to get stuff to fit.
We just got our Xbox 360 copy of the game in the Co-Optitower and our first impression is it's quite a bit better than the demo. There's plenty of tense moments, and the co-op is absolutely top notch so far. Plenty of opportunities to work together - except of course when you burn your partner in the furnace...accidentally. More on that later this week!

Upgrading the hard drive is very easy, I followed a guide from IGN.

These installs dont bother me too much because it really cuts down on the load times.
You can also delete the GAME data without harming your save data. So when you are finished, delete the 5gigs while keeping your save. If you decide you want to play again, just reinstall and load your save. (This is really only something you would do if you are having space problems.)
1. you either haven't played all that much yet to run into space issues (i'm constantly out of space on my 40GB hard drive, I can't even have all my games I own installed)
2. you haven't played metal gear solid 4 yet, it installs after every chapter it seems.
