Songbird gives Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Wings

Just when Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 started to fade out of mainstream press, Songbird makes a curtain call that reminds us that Ultimate Alliance is still here, and working harder than ever to bring us a beautiful co-op experience.  Visually, we've seen a lot of Hero screenshots.  But, this time, some of the art developers come out to play, and share a little bit about this little birdie.

True to it's comic book origins, much of the concept ideas for how the powers should look in game came directly from comic books.  Referenced from the Thunderbolts from Civil War, pink sonic splashes and sound created objects complete the Songbird character.  Work with a friend to combine her sonic powers with any of the other Marvel Ultimate Alliance characters to create a splash of sound and color, like any great orchestra.  Marvel shares some images of her powers on the screen, including this impressive image of her sound wave wings.

The entire process of developing the finished look for the wings ended up taking about three weeks total. This was a relatively large investment for a single effect, but we were completely satisfied with the result, and developing her wings gave us the know-how to create the rest of her visual effects, as well as many others in the game.

This shows us that expanding the cast of the original Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is just the beginning. Intense graphics combined with extensive new powers will give Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 a whole new feel, while still allowing us to Hulk Smash along side a friend whenever we please. I'll certainly be holding my breath for more official announcements, and revisiting the original Ultimate Alliance to relive some very fond memories!

Anytime I try to play co-op with this game nothing happens.

While I've played and beat the game on the Xbox and then the 360, it just doesn't have much appeal to me. I would prefer it if the characters actually had some progression during the game.

What kind of progression through the game? You already get to level up, unlock costumes, and build up lots of extra attacks. If you mean story, that's what the comic book missions are for...

HAHA I had Freedom Force on the PC back in the day.

The idea of a "create-a-hero" is sweet. The first X-Men Legends had you play certain parts of the game as the new hero Magma. If they are willing to create a totally new character for a game, then I dont see why they shouldnt have a custom character maker so that your dream hero can fight alongside the likes of Spidey and friends.
