With information that Prototype would not have co-op, some of us were bummed. However, it seems like the team at Radical Entertainment (the Prototype devs) are still concerned about co-op. As Playstation Universe has detailed, co-op might still be an option for future Prototype games. In interview with Eurogamer, one of the Radical devs, Chris Ansell said:
"We had some pretty cool ideas about multiplayer and we can't wait to start exploring that stuff. We're hoping the game sells really well so we can explore it further," he said.
The team at Radical Entertainment seem devoted to single-player in the first Prototype, so let's hope that it is successful so that we can get some good old co-op in the next Prototype. Keep your fingers crossed.
palgn.com.au is reporting that Prototype has now been delayed until 2009, with suggestions that multiplayer may now be back on the cards for the retail release:

Good news, depending on how you look at it.
I remember when I read the news saying prototype was canceled... I quickly created a thread in Prototype´s official forum comlpaining. Maybe it worked, since it has now been delayed and co-op is still an option

I really hope so. The co-op in this sounded so awesome, I was really really disappointed when they said it was cut.
