Co-Op Title N+ The Deal of the Week

Marc "DjinniMan" Allie July 7th, 2009 at 5:29 PM

The new Xbox Live Gold Deal of the Week is up, and it's a co-op title!  N+ is on sale this week, for 400 MS points, half off the regular price.  N+ got a decent review here at Co-Optimus, and if you haven't read that review already, it's worth a look.  Not only is it a video review, it features a hilarious death scene montage.  Anyone planning on picking this one up?

I freaking loved N . It's certainly not for everyone, as it's got that classic arcade difficulty thing going on. I've never actually finished the single or co-op campaigns, so if some people pick it up, I'd revisit it and try to finish off those later levels.

I bought it as soon as I saw it. Had a blast jumping around (read into) mines with my ninja-obsessed girlfriend.

I have N+ on the DS and love it. Its a pretty interesting and unique game thats a lot of fun to play. I'll bet its even more fun with co-op goodness!

I love N+. I remember playing the first beta versions on PC years ago. It was always a favorite.

I have this for 360, so if anyone wants someone to co-op it with, feel free to add me. I don't play it alone hardly at all, but I'd love to co-op it some time!

I picked up N+, been waiting for a price drop and this was well worth it. It is better than I thought. If anyone wants to complete co-op let me know.

i played the demo last night and it just didnt grab me. all that seemed on offer was floaty jumping, wallhopping and getting from A to B to C. what did i miss that makes you guys love it so?

It's a physics-based game, and it's implemented well. Simpler is better sometimes.

Well, it is pretty simple, but the way the physics is implemented allows you to do so much. You can gain tremendous speed and height in the game. Just a small example: the way you land is entirely dynamic. If you fall too fast, you die. But if you land on a ramp or something that transitions your momentum, you live and may even speed up! Or landing on a floaty block and using the "bounce" momentum to give you a heck of a jump.

Dodging certain enemies may be a chore, but some are just delightful. The guided rocket levels make me want to run around to see how long I can go. Then adding co-op to this, it can be a blast.

I guess what does it for me is that everything just works WAY better than most games in this genre.

Along with the reasons that Jim and Agentfyre listed, it really hearkens back in design to some classic arcade/platforming games while feeling quite modern and fresh. You need pixel perfect jumps and excellent timing to pass many of the later levels. Death is instant if you make the slightest error. And death can be fun. I can't count the number of times I've let out a massive belly laugh watching my ragdoll corpse bounce around a level, setting off more mines.

It's also one of the few games this generation that actually makes me feel rewarded for passing many levels. I have a real sense of relief and accomplishment for passing each of the later stages. That's something that no AAA title has given me in a long time.

Co-op adds another fine level to the play also. The entire single player campaign can be played with others. The strategy becomes quite a bit more wide open once you have a partner with you.

Finally, it's been executed wonderfully. Sound, graphics, style and gameplay all feel like the compliment eachother perfectly. Each level has a sense of craftsmanship behind it.

I don't think N+ is a game for everyone, as these may not be traits that all gamers really want. But it certainly appeals to some of us.

I liked the demo but didnt love it at 800points. I've tried to be cautious buying DLC cuz I got burned with Lumines. (Bought it dont even play it and cant sell it.)
N+ however is a gem and superb for 400 and worth 800 really for the value you get.
I like arcade games alot so this a timing, physic, pattern recognition, platformer also timed so its fun to see if levels can be done quicker and some levels i just barely got thru with only 1 second left.
This game is up there with Braid, Castle Crashers, for value and quality of newer XBLA titles ranks up high on my list with my favorite classic arcade on XBLA titles like Galaga, Pac-Man and Im big on Scramble too.
N+ is just really well designed, it ramps up in difficulty introducing more enemies like rockets and turrets later on to prevent your success. Very fun levels hold my interest to see whats next. Once you learn the controls and how far the ninja jumps you can get into a rhythym or zone (like Mario). Then it gets interesting trying to keep speed up off angles but not die from impact. I was getting schooled wickedly on "Back to School" level cuz of the rockets but finally beat it which provided that sense of accmplishment.
Just a great awesome game if you like arcade. I'm gonna have to grab the DLC for this too, I think there are 2 extra level packs at 200points each.
