Army of Two Unmasked - 40th Day Art Director Spills the Beans

It's not the size of the gun that matters...
The official Army of Two: The 40th Day blog has posted an interview with Character Art Director Roderique Pralier. In it, Pralier discusses the changes to the sequel. In addition to several new enemies, some of the design changes for the titular duo are discussed.
Ron: From the video and screenshots that we've seen so far, some people have commented on a notable size difference between the two characters, was that something that you wanted to focus on?
Roderique: In the first game, all the characters were using the same skeleton so they all had the same size. With Salem, we had to use a small trick; when they were both standing we would have him crouched over a bit so that he looked smaller, when in fact he was the same size as Rios...but now each character has their own skeleton and you can definitely see that the difference between Salem and Rios is huge. Rios is a big huge guy, and while Salem is still tall, compared to Rios he almost looks small.
Seriously, does anyone want to be the scrawny guy? Kinda like getting stuck playing as Dazzler in X-Men: The Arcade Game! All kidding aside, there are some really interesting pics in the interview, particularly those that show Salem and Rios faces. Could it be possible that they are even more threatening with the masks off?

btw, is that a bionic version of that "long live saddam!" boss from the first one?
We gave the original game 4.5 out of 5, I'd hardly say the "co-optimus journalists" as you so kindly air-quoted disagree with your assessment of the game's quality.
Wait a minute, did I miss something? I don't think the staff has ever said anything too negative about AoT...in fact, the review was very positive:
my only complaints for the first are that 1) it lacks replayability (played through twice and was sufficiently bored the second time) and 2) "army of two" should be "army of 2 and friends" to bring it to 4 player . that said i think co-oping in a pair has some interesting strengths that you lose when you have 3 or 4. you tend to be much more coordinated in your attacks and aggro management.
i wish they'd add some new co-op modes and bring it up to 4 player (maybe not 4 player campaign per se) but it doesn't sound like that will happen.
Wow I have seen alot of bashing towards the Co-optimus staff as of late seems a little unwarranted in this case as others have pointed out they gave Ao2 a fair score.
The second one is looking to be pretty sweet and I am digging the concept for some pretty outlandish enemies which I really like.
yes, you do... its a good time. its not the most polished game but its fun
I thought I read a bashing review here a long time ago, but I must have clearly mistaken cooptimus for some other website.
some of you guys need to take a deep breath and calm down though
also you have to admit...AO2 has got more then its share of flack from the media.
if you take the game at face value, its pretty good. but they did hype up the AI, voice commands, and partner maneuvers more than they should have which is why some people were mad about it. also, if i remember correctly, it had some terrible bugs in the multiplayer modes that crippled it for quite some time.
Thanks for owning up. I was wondering what got into you...
lol... i think my wife said the same thing. however, we both agreed that alice is probably the the hottest girl in any game we own. plus she's a hacker... how cool is that?

so if rios is so big, i'm surprised salem is able to hoist him up onto ledges like you do so many times in the first game. i wonder if their size difference will affect gameplay.
