Co-Opticast Episode 24: When Does a Game Need Co-Op?

Staff July 28th, 2009 at 6:37 PM

It's a very special episode this week! Nick took a weekend trip and made the mistake of leaving Mike to his own devices, so Jim, Jason and Marc join him to discuss not only this week's news, but when we feel a game requires co-op!

What a great round-table topic; I think you guys covered it pretty solid! Hopefully more people have more examples of what needs to have co-op, or what shouldn't. I don't think I have much more to contribute (the Spider-man Web of Shadows co-op comment I completely agree with, more than most of the titles!)

Great discussion, although I think it was a bit short. I agree with the comments of games base don teams (squads) should have co-op since the property is revolving around a cooperative setting.

Great job!

I would like to add that I feel Farcry 2 deserved co-op because of the open-world design and the fact that any merc model you do not choose to play as in the beginning becomes character you interact with later.
