Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Release Date and Co-Op Videos

The best weapon against the onslaught of Ninja Henchmen is a pair of knee high boots and a nice set of cleavage, case in point pictured above.  But when you add in a second set with a splash of purple, the ninjas don't stand a chance.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2's co-op mode has been detailed in the latest blog post over at the PlayStation Blog, and with it we find details of just how the gameplay will work.

There are over thirty missions available in the online two player co-op mode, sadly offline co-op is not included.  You can still play these missions, but you'll be assisted by an AI CPU player instead of your friend.  If either player dies in the mission, it's game over.

There are advantages though of teaming up, including brand new combined Ninpo attacks, and the ability to "save" a partner low on health.  Both players can choose the same character if they wish, though we recommend spreading the wealth.

Finally the game has an announced September 29th North American release date.  Also announced is a collector's edition of the game that will include a comic book and a mini strategy guide.  Personally I think it should come with a spare controller - because you are going to be throwing yours while playing this game!

We've got two brand new videos of the game's co-op mode in action.  The first shows off the comparison between the Xbox 360 version of the game and Playstation 3 version.

The second video shows off co-op gameplay.

No offline coop? I guess that's a lot to ask for in this type of game. Would've been an instant-buy if it had split screen, but now I'll just have to see what the reviews say.

The toned down gore is pretty disappointing, but it's insignificant compared to the improvements and additions that come with the remake.

While there were several flaws in NG2, the only one I really care to have addressed is the horrendous slowdown in larger areas. If the game can run smoothly from beginning to end, I'll be ecstatic!

Factor in the addition of co-op, and this game is impossible to pass up!
