Beyond Co-Op, August 30th to September 5th

Loren "AgtFox" Halek September 5th, 2009 at 12:42 PM

Welcome to Beyond Co-Op, a weekly piece that talks about industry stories that may or may not be related to co-op gaming.

The stories for this week:

- PAX, PAX and more PAX

- Lots of Releases this Week

PAX, PAX and more PAX

With PAX going on this weekend, the news this week has been few and far between. I just ask that you continue looking at Co-Optimus for the staff’s reports from the floor. I also ask that you check out sister site Colony of Gamers for coverage as well. Both sites are working very much in conjunction with each other to give maximum coverage of the event.

Lots of Releases this Week

The September Tsunami begins this week. Beatles: Rock Band, DiRT 2, Darkest of Daysand Mini-Ninjas all come out this week. The Beatles game will of course probably get the most attention, but if you aren’t a Beatles fan (and there are people out there who don’t like them) there are other things to choose from. The original DiRT was a good game, so chances are the sequel will be as well. I am also intrigued by Darkest of Days considering there has been massive advertisements for it on television and I had never heard of the game until a little while ago. It obviously has something to do with time since you are put into some of the major battles in history. May be something to check out.

Boy, oh boy. I come to this site like 3 times a day, and it seems like there's a new article about PAX everytime. You all must be BUSY, lol. If that sounded like I was annoyed, I assure you- it's only jealousy XD

yeah i think everyone here is wanting to be at PAX right now, myself included

I really don't understand why someone would get Beatles Rock Band.. but like.. I guess some people like Beatles so much that they need to get a game which is full of their songs.

Nice sources btw.

oh i know some people who are really crazy about the beatles. i still don't think it constitutes a full game though. they're just cashing in more with a full game than they would with DLC.

I think the Beatles are one of the very few acts who can actually support a full title to themselves. And, given the history of Apple Corp., it seems unlikely that anyone would have gotten the rights to their music without doing it as a standalone game.

Off topic, did the spambots figure out that the Co-optistaff are all at PAX?

PAX is nutz this year.

Yeah, roland, everyone is talking about Beatles Rock Band...it's getting pretty big.

I agree. The whole legal issues would have made it impossible for them to just DLC onto existing RB or GH games. Also, I think they did enough with it to constitute its own game. As far as I know, its the only one that scores players for singing in harmony, and its chock full of extras for fans, which is who its definitely marketed to.

there was nothing I was excited for this week, I'm some what disspointed, I'm not a beatles fan but I'm betting some ppl are stoked, its just not for me, it's just another week I get to save money

lol, I'm going back to school soon, so I'll need any excuse for a boring gaming week to save money.

I've never wanted to buy a Band game as much as The Beatles... probably still wont happen though

mattism at 07:45 AM on 9.8.2009
I wish I could have made it out to PAX. I miss the NW and this would have been a good excuse to go back up there for a week.

Has anyone tried mini ninjas? I liked the little animated trailers for it, but its kind of looking like a generic brawler to me for some reason

Yeah, no purchase to all of these games but I did love ya'lls PAX coverage. As proofed by my commenting on every post, nothing to do with a contest, no not at all.
