Contra Rebirth Now Available on WiiWare

Konami has announced that Contra Rebirth is now available on Nintendo's WiiWare service for 1000 Waggle Points.  The game features brand new graphics and art as well as two player local co-op play that made Contra so popular.   Once again you'll be tasked with saving planet Earth and blowing up everything you see on the screen.

Sounds simple.  Then the bullets start flying.  I wonder if you can Waggle Up-Up, Down-Down, Left-Right, Left-Right, B, A, Select, Start.

Two questions
1. Is it a brand new game, or is it a remake of a SNES game or something?

2. Is it as challenging as the original Contra was? Without the Konami Code, that game was impossible!!!

Looks awesome. I wish there was a way to demo it without shelling out the Wii points... Nintendo really needs to start offering some demos. Or demo disks or something...

In answer to BigBadBob

It's a new game, based heavily on the SNES contra. It's pretty good if you like Contra. My wife and I played through it on Normal difficulty in a little over 2 hours. That was with the number of lives set to max (7, I think). The robot camel level was really annoying, though.

I wish devs would do more things like this.

Hopefully folks had fun. Got quite a few matches in, but I'm signing off for the night.
