Darksiders PAX 2009 Show Floor Footage

Game Name: Darksiders
Co-Op:No
Publisher/Developer: Vigil, THQ
Release Date: January 2010
If there is one single player action game on the PAX showfloor that put on a show, it was Darksiders. Next to their demo consoles, they had a giant riding bull that they skinned to look like Wars (the main character of Darksiders) Horse. This got our attention as well, and we stopped by for a test ride of the game itself. Darksiders follows one of the Horseman of the Apocalypse, War. As you may know, there was supposed to be 4 Horseman, but co-op was cut from this title. This action adventure game had best been described as a Zelda meets (or, meats) God of War with a robust hero and loads of destructible environments.

Yes, people rode this thing.
What really caught my attention was all of the exploring you get to do. Instead of just hacking at your enemies, you can throw a car at a group of them, then go find some treasure chests! We were short on time for this demo, but here is what we've got.
Editors note: We couldn't ask about the lack of co-op, as the developer I was scheduled to meet with wasn't around. Otherwise, Arttemis was the one playing the demo while I recorded once again.
They also had a really big sword. Jim demonstrates.

That horse they had on display at PAX was insane too!!!
As for the combat, it was much deeper than I had anticipated. The variety of contextual attacks (back attack, hold attack, etc) was pretty impressive.
The adventure elements weren't discernible in the short amount of playtime I had with the title; this element is the most important if you're going to compare yourself to Zelda games, after all. One of the booth workers told Tino and me (unofficially) that the game should last close to ~30 hours for a 100% play-through. That's pretty damn impressive!
Personally? Darksiders hands down.
and i gotta admit, i love exploring in games. intriguing..
The exploring felt very Zelda to play; climbing up walls, the way he ran, maneuvering around obstacles - it was awesome.
The sword was probably only about 30 lbs, but try hold it by one end...that's the trick. If you notice, I'm using my hands as a fulcrum and lever. Otherwise, I would've had to hold it straight up to balance it.
Sorry, I strayed off topic. Darksiders!
