Because first I would have to create a myspacepage, and that would just make it easier for google and the rest of "The Man's" minions to track my every move.

I have though been emailing everyone I know who plays games, if that helps. But like Johnny I don't have a myspace page and don't plan on getting one.

bapenguin at 02:54 PM on 2.8.2008
Not a problem guys, it's just one way I'm looking to promote the site through different channels.

johnnyway at 03:48 PM on 2.8.2008
I have been promoting the site through word of mouth to all my gamer friends if counts for anything.

bapenguin at 10:33 PM on 2.8.2008
Awesome man. I really appreciate it.

Done and done, to quote bauldur's gate.

What about Google searches? I know Google places their results based upon searches for specific terms then the link the searcher clicked on. If we each searched for something like "co-op xbox 360 games" then looked on the results until we found a co-optimus.com page (super easy in Firefox, just start typing co-optimus), I'd have to think this would help a little in boosting the page's ranking in search results.

I know it may not seem like much, but I figure a search or two a day from each of us (esp those of us with a little extra time on our hands) and our beloved site should show up higher in the rankings. Just a thought...

Looking at his page source:

He has no keywords. The second he adds Games/Game/Gaming to the keywords, my internet filter at work (Websense), will block this site . Those keywords will help in the Google search though

bapenguin at 08:50 AM on 2.13.2008
Those keywords are on the main pages, just not the forums.

Don't worry guys, things are starting to work great. In the few short weeks we've been up we are making great strides. I have no doubt that in a few months time we'll be the resource everyone uses for Co-Op gaming!

The Hedon at 09:15 AM on 2.13.2008

Everything has been great! I just hope it never gets blocked at my work!

The Hedon at 09:16 AM on 2.13.2008

Sure enough. Main page has games listed. I hope it doesn't get blocked. Though, I get the main page in RSS anyway, and forums don't have the keyword games, so I think I am safe!

johnnyway at 09:31 AM on 2.13.2008
I have the top portion blocked at work already, always have. The small portion between header and the "last visit was." I hope thats all thats ever blocked.

Jonezy at 04:30 PM on 2.13.2008
At my school they´ve blocked almost anything. They´re seriously going mad since a friend of mine and his friends tried to do some massive DDoS attack from out of the school computers. Thanks to them, I can´t visit my game news sites and forums Well, I think I'm going to write down http://www.co-optimus.com randomly in classrooms or the computer rooms. Maybe that'd get this place some new users

johnnyway at 10:19 AM on 2.14.2008

While it would seem like a good idea to randomly write the site name down, you don't want to do something that would deface public property and possibly bring negative attention to the site. You could also get yourself in trouble that way and end up in detention instead of home playing games.
As a system admin myself I know that I block a lot of sites from the users of my company and it may make them mad it also protects our equipment from misuse. Remember that you are a student and that the computers and network belong to the school not to the users.
Wow, I do sound old! Feel free to ignore me.

FallenReign at 01:09 PM on 2.14.2008
I know if I found a slip of paper that said this site name I'd be all over it. Fact is promotion should probably come by word of mouth rather than anything else. Spamming of email or throwing confetti, as fun as it sounds, won't really get the word out. But I'm sure to tell all my friends and co workers, even if they don't game.

Jonezy at 04:25 PM on 2.14.2008
I'm not the kind of kid that does vandalism of any sort. I think there are some ways to promote this site, maybe there's a way to make some gaming magazines aware that there's now a site that is dedicated to Co-op

The Hedon at 08:40 AM on 2.15.2008

Maybe if the word was spread to Major Nelson of Xbox, and the official Playstation blog owners, it could really take off.

Though, I have read plenty of comments on those blogs, and many of those people are the LAST people I would like to see posting here!

FallenReign at 02:01 AM on 2.16.2008

Beggars can't be choosers, if you want people to come you have to take the good with the bad. Plus how bad could it be...

The Hedon at 08:43 AM on 2.16.2008

Pretty darn bad

FallenReign at 07:44 PM on 2.16.2008

Well... then... add an ignore function, works fairly well in COD4.

johnnyway at 03:31 PM on 2.17.2008

H isn't allowed to ignore, as a moderator he has to read all the crappy posts that the rif-raf would come with. Sucks to be him

Jonezy at 04:14 PM on 2.17.2008
But in return he does get all the powers that a moderator has!
I know from my own life that noobs can ruin a forum though, but I think if this site gets popular, there'll also be enough people to help and run it, and together they can fight off the noobs

FallenReign at 12:32 AM on 2.18.2008
Yay for mods, I was once a moderator for my old clan, keeping the so called ''rif raf'' out was not fun its true, but thats one of the duties you have to uphold as a mod. I think its good fun just kicking people for good reasons and keeping a site or server clean, my hats off to you Hedon.

The Hedon at 12:33 PM on 2.18.2008
Cheers for the comments guys. So far, this place has been great!
