Remember to Manually Save Your ODST Campaign

Jim "txshurricane" McLaughlin September 22nd, 2009 at 1:39 PM

Call it in first, then retreat!

Wired provided a public notice yesterday warning players to manually save their Halo 3: ODST campaign before hopping over to the Firefight mode. Apparently, the game's autosave doesn't really care that you don't want to leave your friends waiting on you.

Please do remember pause the game and save before accepting invites to other games or game modes. If your friends are impatient, you can jump into their Live Party and chat with them while you are saving your campaign progress. We're gung-ho for Firefight, too, but we have a city to save, dagnabbit.

arg that's unfortunate. i guess it makes sense though since both modes are essentially co-op campaign. i wonder if they'll patch that (if they can). does that mean you can save your progress in firefight?

i just found out my ODST won't be here till tomorrow. so much for amazon's release date shipping

Dude that sucks, did they have any guarantee on it?

my order's first flight was delayed due to a "mechanical reasons"... what i don't get is why they ship release date delivery orders the day before with next day air. that doesn't leave any margin for error. you can have UPS or Fedex deliver packages on specific days, so why ship it next day air?

To prevent people from stealing it a week or two days later. Imagine a gamer that works at UPS and somehow knows you got ODST in that package.

Very tempted for them I bet.

they would also risk their job, a hefty fine, and possibly jail... plus it wouldn't be hard to narrow it down considering packages are tracked. yeah i wouldn't risk that over a video game.

stores get their stock weeks in advance and it just sits in a stock room within the reach of many employees. if they're not worried about that, i don't see why they'd worry about shipped pre-orders being stolen.

Dude, I AM worried about that. ****** ****** get the game 2 weeks before it's released and I have to spend my time avoiding anything related to the game in fear of being spoiled. And it's because A) employees take their copies home early, B) they sell it without a worry, C) they don't even plan on paying for it and give their buddies free copies.

This **** happens and it happens a lot! I just wish it didn't.

Weird - I hope they fix that...Also, good luck to you guys that had delayed shipments.

Actually knowing Atlanta's airport is a hub for flights from all over and stuff your package might have been delayed because of the freaking massive flooding down here o.0

Atlanta's airport is crazy without flooding .

Any word on if it's okay to install to the hard drive? I know they recommend you NOT to do it for Halo 3 since it basically already does install and installing the game to the drive only makes it do double the work.

they recommend you DO install ODST. its optimized for it.

regarding my package (sorry, couldn't resist), its currently "out for delivery" as of 7am. unfortunately, i'm feeling better today so i went to work. doh! i mean, i'm feeling better, that's a good thing...

my shipment didn't go through atlanta though, it was delayed in tulsa before going to louisville. it could have something to do with the flooding, who knows. it just said "mechanical reasons" which could be a generic delay reason. certainly landing on water would pose a mechanical issue.

Back when they shipped my Mass Effect game without Mass Effect just the bonus disk. I got a refund on shipping, so you should look into that or get some kind of reimbursement.

the fine print:

pretty sure that would exclude me since UPS's performance is out of their control. i might try anyway.
