Left 4 Dead 2 Sells 2.9 Million

No, that is not money burning in the background.

Despite selling 2.9 million copies of Left 4 Dead 2, as well as 2.7 million of Dragon Age: Origins, Electronic Arts posted a loss of 82 million dollars last quarter.  Sounds bad, right?  Considering the same quarter last year EA lost over 641 million dollars,  that's a pretty solid improvement year over year.

It's good to see sales of the four player co-op shooter selling well, despite some misgivings about the timing of a sequel to last year's co-op game of the year.  EA is looking to have a solid next quarter and is well on the way there with Mass Effect 2 selling over 2 million copies in its first two weeks alone.  Sprinkle in some Army of Two: The 40th Day for good measure and that ship might just be headed in the right direction.

I think EA is doing alot of good to get away from there past of rehasing the same game over and over with few if any improvements.

With original games like Dead Space and the like they are well on there way.

Mass Effect 2 I imagine bolstered their sales for this year quite well.

wonder how many of those were people who signed the online petition saying they wouldn't buy it. I still have only played through the first one once--on easy, and a couple stages on single player. Friend brought over the 2nd one and wasn't really digging the whole bile canisters, and jockey thing.
