Co-Op Couples Wanted

Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo August 7th, 2008 at 1:59 PM

If there's one thing every guy always dreams of, it's playing video games with his wife or girlfriend.  Ok, so maybe "dream of" isn't the right term, but you know what I mean fellas.  Dream might be gaming with your wife, her girlfriend and yourself...ahhh yeah.  Um..anyway, believe it or not there's a whole lot of couples out there that game together, and most of that gaming is done cooperatively.

At Co-Optimus, we want to hear about your experiences as a couple gaming.  So we are putting out a call for writers that game with their significant other.  If you are interested send an email to npuleo@co-optimus.com and tell us a bit about yourselves and a small writing sample.

The only game I can get my fiancee to play so far is Rock Band. There might be some hope for the Lego games down the road, but we'll see... anyone else have any other co-op games their significant others enjoy?

dreamscape, try sitting her down to check out Viva Pinata from the Very start of the game, trust me, she will dig it and earn you all the achievements in no time. It's also fun to play together.

I have had success with several games. The first game that got her hooked was Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance. We also played the two X-Men Legends games, Lego Star Wars, Lord of the Rings The Return of the King, and Mario kart for the gamecube. The co-op part of Mario Kart was very boring, so we ended up playing all the missions in competitive mode.

She is now playing PixelJunk Monsters. It is a very fun co-op game it is so addictive that she even plays it by herself. We also downloaded the demo of Haze, and after realizing that FPS are not that bad, we are now trying to get Resistance Fall of Man (the reviews of Haze made me fear that her first FPS experience would be bad).

Would reviews from the point of view of a guy gamer who wants to play co-op games, and a girl non-gamer who generally doesn't, be appropriate?

In other words, we'd review the games, and cover which one of us liked them and which didn't, and why, but I can't promise she'd get into nearly as many games as I would. However, I think that might even be more helpful, in the end. If these reviews are targeted towards gamers who have a hard time finding games their non-gamer spouses will play, well, she's exactly that kind of spouse.

I'll write up a sample and email it to you, unless the position has been filled?

Still looking, so that'd be great. That's sort of what we are going for.

Ah, gaming with your significant other. A blessing and a curse it is...

Put it this way, split-screen co-op gets instant purchase approval from my wife.

my husband unlocked my inner gamer... i can get competitive though, so when we don't pass levels fast enough i get impatient. solution = play everything on easy. We both work a lot too, so playing easy allows us to enjoy more games in the 1-4hrs/week we have for it. games with less of a gore factor & that each person can do as much or little as they want are the best way to go...

Hi I'm glad I found this site. I have always been a PC gamer. My wife and I bought the first Xbox and loved playing Halo. We tried Time Splitters, 007.... & Starwars Battlefront but didn't care for them. We bought the Xbox 360 and played Halo 2 & 3. My wife would say to me "lets go shoot the aliens". We haven't found much else to play. We have Gears of War, too restrictive & the color sucks, Rainbow Six Vegas, no story in co-op, Ultimate alliance, too simple & restrictive, Kameo, simple & restrictive. Any recommendations for good coop shooter or RPG with a story would be appreciated.

My friend and I didn't like this game at all. We didn't have to put any thought into it, and each stage was over in five seconds
Very good to know .I know the previous TMNT game would not let you do couch co-op online.
We played couch co-op online, yes. But if an online player drops out, no one else can pop in unless you restart the game.
I'll buy it, for sure.
