Lost Planet 2 Patch Addresses Player Concerns

Lost Planet 2 is a fine experience in most respects; as our review points out, it has some epic monster-munching moments that are truly memorable.  But there are also some things about the game that will have you tearing your hair out in frustration.  The biggest problem, in my opinion, is the awkward checkpoint/respawn system.  Many times, we'd fight our way to a giant Akrid, die horribly, and respawn not at the beginning of the Akrid fight, but several maps previous.  It's terribly frustrating, and makes the game artificially difficult, especially when you consider how brainless your AI allies are most of the time.  These two needs are being addressed in a patch, available today on PSN and soon for Xbox 360 users.

Besides revamping the spawn points, many tweaks have made the game a bit less infuriating for single player campaigners, on the easy and normal levels, at least.  Capcom's willingness to listen to fans is delightful, and I can't wait to get my hands on the patch so I can dive deeper into Lost Planet 2 without risking furtehr damage to my controller or the wall.

You fans have been playing the crap out of Lost Planet 2, and we've been listening to all of your feedback. We're releasing a patch that incorporates a lot of ideas you have been asking for. Here's the details on what to expect:


- Respawning points are changed - e.g. the player can start  from the beginning of the boss fight, rather than start the level from  the beginning and so on.
Applies to the whole game.


- The player's attacking power has been strengthened.
This applies when the difficulty level is set at either Easy or Normal and when only one player starts the game.


- The level of animations for the player being affected near by attack/explosion is lowered.
This applies when the difficulty level is set at either Easy or Normal and when only one player starts the game.


- The level of damage to the player is lowered.
This applies when the difficulty level is set at either Easy or Normal and when only one player starts the game.


- Harmonizer is adjusted to be more powerful.
This applies when the difficulty level is set at either Easy or Normal and when only one player starts the game.


- The level of animations for the enemies being affected near by attack/explosion is increased.
This applies when the difficulty level is set at either Easy or Normal and when only one player starts the game.


- Tip texts are added to the objects that require the B button action such as Data Posts.
Applies to the whole game.


- Weapons' parameters are adjusted - i.e. they became quite evenly balanced (not too strong, not too weak).
Applies to the whole game.

- The speed of the player's dash is increased.
