Rainbow Six Vegas 2: Full, Pure, Uncut Co-Op

Staff February 27th, 2008 at 2:09 PM

I know I'm not the only one excited about Vegas 2, heck it's the second highest in pre-order sales currently. I played a ton of the first Vegas.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2

I played even more of the co-op mode (mostly split-screen). However, there was always something missing. What was it? You can probably say it with me. Story.

Where was the story in co-op mode? It was stripped down as if to say, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas... single player mode. Well, fear not, Vegas 2 is quoted as bringing the full, uncut story from single player directly to the co-op, as it should be. For all you co-operators, that means you won't have to play through the games single player campaign just to understand why you're chasing some chick terrorist.

There's an Ubisoft Developer's Diary video up on the official Rainbow Six Vegas site explaining some of the co-op details. They also mention a sweet "jump in, jump out" feature. That way, you can, let's say, jump out, if a scenario looks a little too hairy, and after your friend has taken care of all the terrorist, you can jump back in to share the credit. All in all this game looks like it might just set the next standard for co-op.

I loved Vegas 1 to death (and the previous RB6 titles..besides Letdown...err..Lockdown). However, I could care less about the story, cut scenes, etc. I just loved the action on and offline.

However, I am glad to see that UBI has up the ante with this Vegas 2 title by expanding on the story for those who want a better story. That means we know they are listening to us little consumers. At least a little

Which also means more people will be online in the community as it appeals to more people.

I love jump in/jump out multiplayer. That way, I can play the game by myself if I want to, but call on a friend to help me out in tough areas. I can recall a few moments, playing Veteran, in the first one where I could have certainly used a friend.

This is definitely high on my list, actually, it's at the top of my list for games that I'm looking forward to.

I know I am one of those pre-orderees. I asume the highest would be GTA4, I also have that on pre-order

Yeah, March is shaping up to be pretty expensive.

I've been playing Rainbow Six with my crew since the series debut on the original XBox and each installment has been 4 player co-op. Who at UBISoft was stupid enough to think that I'd gladly sacrifice two of my buddies just so I could have the cut scenes? I've no doubt VEGAS 2 will be pretty and polished, but without the long standard 4 player co-op this title's one step forward and two steps back.

I deleted my preorder, when the 2-player coop was confirmed. It would be good if everybody does this, to show Ubi that they have taken away the best part. We allways played RB6 together with 4 players and it has been a super experience as a real team. Everybody in my friend list loved this. I really do not need any cutscenes. If I want to see a movie I can go to the cinema. If I want to play in a team I use my 360 as a coop-machine. But even with cutscenes which some people seem to need it can work up to 4 player ... see Halo3.

No offense usse. While I am not excited about the drop in co-op players, I still plan to purchase anyway. 95% of my time in Vegas 1 was online in all the game types, but not doing co-op. I will probably do co-op for the campaign, and then the rest of my time will be purely in the team/solo deathmatches, CTF, etc.

I agree with H, this is a game to get if you enjoy online play. Not exactly the co-op game of the year.
