Halo Wars: Field Trip to Harvest Trailer

Nicholas "bapenguin" Puleo October 04th, 2008 at 7:54 PM

It was a good day when it was announced that Halo Wars, the RTS for the Xbox 360 would support co-op mulitplayer.  It was a bad day when Microsoft announced they were shutting down the game's developer, Ensemble Studios, upon completion of the project.  After watching the latest cinematic trailer for the game, it makes me very sad that we won't see this kind of quality from them again.

The cinematic trailer appears to be some sort of pre-mission set up on a planet called Harvest.  In it we get a look at a lot of familiar Halo lore set in an gorgeously rendered video.  Even though this video doesn't show off any co-op gameplay, or any gameplay for that matter, it's one that has to be seen.

We've got it embedded after the jump.

That cinematic is dead sexy. Seeing the gameplay on GameTrailers TV last night, it looks really nice, and surprisingly good for a console RTS.

I'm sad that it won't arrive on PC, as Ensemble's roots was PC games, and I don't have a 360, so I would be unable to play.

That sucks a lot! The studio is shutting down. I've NEVER seen graphics this good before. Even Halo's graphics don't match up to it.

Granted it's not in game, but this cinematic IMO matches up to the quality that Blizzard puts forth.

So.... I guess the AI can choose to be naked or with clothes? LOL

Actually...I hope that's a user option.

Wow, that is gorgeous. I still have some concerns about how well they will be able to present an RTS on the 360. Maybe that's just my old school PC bias for RTS games showing.

I played it at E3 and I'll say that while the core gameplay is still an RTS - they do a lot of sweet things to make it a console game while still retaining depth.

Bap, are you sure that the cinematics are created by the game studio? A lot of times, they're outsourced.

And I agree that this game looks like fun, despite my hatred for all things RTS.

If this RTS wasn't Halo, I wouldn't buy it. It's just the prospect of leading armies with warthogs and all of that gets me pumped.

That's a good point. I have no idea. I"ll see if I can find out.

This site is so awesome. Im glad to be able to help reach that 2500 goal! I will definitely be telling friends about it.
More games should definitely incorporate co-op. Its not always enough to run around and shoot up teams or compete in a free-for-
My friend and I played some Resistance- Fall of Man tonight. Hopefully we will be getting Dark Kingdom for the PS3 by tomorrow s

How is the replay value of it?
Has anyone played this game yet? I played the demo, and it reminded me somewhat of "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" from the Genesis b
Unfortunately, no co-op. I wasnt impressed with it either. I bought it on a whim at Gamestop for like $15.00 used, and I am not
