Excellent Blog Post about Classic Co-Op Titles

Marc "DjinniMan" Allie October 6th, 2008 at 11:49 AM

As the resident classic co-op maniac, I found this blog post over at YetiKitn to be very entertaining.  The author details some classic co-op gaming moments, spurred on by the recent release of Castle Crashers.  Many of the games in this story have appeared on our own column dedicated to the golden oldies, Co-Op Classics.  I have to admit, there were several games on the list I was unaware of.  (Cowboys of Moo Mesa?  I'm gonna check that out for sure!)  However, the author loses a bit of geek cred when referring to the Avengers as the Justice League.  Bonus points, though, for mentioning Moonwalker, a game from the days when Michael Jackson wasn't just a punch line.  What say you, Co-Optimus readers?  What are your memories of these games?

In college, my roommate and I lost many a night to Guardian Heroes. Part of the reason for this was that the battery on his Saturn was faulty so saved games wouldn't stick around. But that only added to the fun. We eventually got so good that we could breeze through the game a few times in the course of a couple of hours and then do arena matches with all of the unlocked characters. Losing the best out of 3 meant you got labeled as a "Nafumika" for the rest of the day.

Speaking of the Simpsons arcade game, I dropped probably close to $3.00 in quarters on that game during Pher's bachelor's party. I played it all the way through, and a few of the other guys there dropped in and out. Drinks definitely didn't aid completion of the game

Gosh, appreciate someone reading my ramblings, and thanks muchly on the correction with the Avengers (which is now edited with due thanks)!

Darn MK vs. DC articles I've been reading went to the brain...

I'll definitely be coming by again to read more ^^

Yeah that's a great one. Capcom released a TON of great ones, like AVP and Knights of the Round. Those are great to play on a ROM even right now!

That article just made me wonder even more, why the Simpsons, X-men and Avengers game hasn't been released yet on XBLA and PSN.

Welcome, MelodyKitn! I loved your rundown of some oldies but goodies. Hope you weren't offended by the Avengers thing; it was all in good fun! I look forward to checking out more of the games you mentioned soon.

Also, baldy, Knights of the Round is indeed a winner. Might just have to use that one soon...

Hey txs, Djinni, thanks for the welcome, and no worries, I know it's all in good fun and rememberance. I would have felt worse finding out I'd left a super comic mistake like that lingering for longer.

I left out so many awesome games I missed (couldn't find all the pictures), but look forward to reading up on some oldies here. Happy to have come and nice to meetcha all 3

I never talk when I play online on COD. No one really says anything worth listening to, or no one talks whatsoever.
