it's definitely looking good. that comment about creating a compelling reason for red spartans fighting blue spartans makes me a bit nervous though. why does VS multiplayer need an explanation? answer it doesn't.

****SPOILERS**** (guesses based on novels)
the only reason i can think of is if the revolution kicks back into full swing and insurrectionists get their hands on spartan tech... but it would be a stretch for them to be able to actually successfully use it. i mean the UNSC went through a lot of effort picking spartan IIs and even then, the success rate was not good. perhaps they're spartan IIIs that ran from the UNSC and joined the revolution? i guess we'll find out.

I agree it doesn't need an explanation. And either way at the rate people die in MP, there's no way to develop replacements for them so fast.

Unless versus will not have Spartan vs. Spartan, but like Invasion with Spartans versus "New Enemy"...
