Beyond Co-Op - November 23rd to November 29th

It was a bit of an odd week for news, with a giant holiday in the US sitting on Thursday.  Despite that, there were a few big announcements to hit this week.

Here's what we have on tap for Beyond Co-Op this week.

  • Columbia Pictures returns to Netflix on NXE
  • Super Street Fighter II HD Remix Released
  • Video Game Voice Actor Shot in India Terrorist Attacks
  • Assassin's Creed 2 in the Works
  • Fallout 3 DLC Coming in January
  • Xbox 360 'Jasper' Spotted in the Wild

Assassin's Creed 2 in the Works

During a recent earnings conference call, Ubisoft let slip that there is indeed an Assassin's Creed sequel in the works.  Shocker, I know?  While Joystiq was mum on details we do have some other information thanks to an a source.  We know the game will take place in the Far East somewhere, and Altair will obviously still be the main character.  Right now it looks like the game is on track for a release next Holiday.

Columbia Pictures Movies return to Netflix Streaming

After what seemed like a total "dickwad" move from Sony, pulling Columbia pictures movies off the Netflix streaming service the night before it launched, those movies have mysteriously returned.  The big deal here was ONLY the Xbox streams were removed, while PC and other set top users were still able to stream those movies.  All conspiracies aside, it's good to have titles like Ghostbusters and Superbad available on demand.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix out on PSN and Xbox Live

Capcom's update to the classic Super Street Fighter game has hit both Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network in all it's glory.  Fully redrawn hi-def sprites, widescreen 1080p gameplay, and updated sound make this game look brand new while still retaining the classic gameplay (with a few minor tweaks).  The game will set you back 1200 MS Points of $15, and looks to be worth every penny.

Canadian Voice Actor Shot in India Terrorist Attacks

Michael Rudder was shot three times recently during the terrorist attacks at Indian hotels.  Luckily he should make a full recovery.  He's best known for his work in videogames such as Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassin's Creed, and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.

Xbox 360 'Jasper' Spotted at Retail

A brand new iteration of the Xbox 360 hardware is said to have hit retail outlets.  The unit manufactured early in October of this year sport a brand new lower power CPU/GPU combo as well as 256MB of flash memory - presumably to support the NXE.  The best way to tell if your unit is a Jasper unit is to look at the power supply and see if it uses 150W instead of 175W.  These new systems are supposed to run cooler, quieter and hopefully more effeciently.
