Beyond Co-Op - February 24th through March 3rd, 2013

Welcome to this week’s Beyond Co-Op, where we look at interesting news around the gaming and entertainment industry that may not directly pertain to cooperative gaming culture. This week we set sail with Assassin's Creed 4 and Cliffy B speaks out in favor of Micro Transactions.

Assassin's Creed 4

No sooner have I managed to trawl through the behemoth that was Assassin's Creed 3, but rumors and then an official announcement for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag sneakily hit the internet.  Unlike with the 2nd iteration of the series, Assassin's Creed 3 appears to be the only adventure in that particular storyline.  4 will instead take place in the world of pirates, sea shanties and dubious bodily odour.  No news has hit about the any co-op aspects making it into the new game, but hopefully the Wolf Pack will return once more.

Here the latest info from CVG:

According to leaks, Black Flag is set during 1715 in the Caribbean, with Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas among the islands that players will visit. The main character is supposedly Edward Kenway, father of Haytham Kenway and grandfather of Connor Kenway from Assassin's Creed 3. Edward is both an assassin and notorious privateer.

Cliffy B: Micro Machine

Does Clifford B enjoy poking the angry bear that is impassioned gaming fans, or is he keeping a level head whilst those all around him lose theirs?  Read his blog to decide for yourself, in it Cliff suggests that the industry needs new economic streams such as micro transactions for it to flourish.  I suggest that you speak with your wallets and read the blog with your eyes.
