Prototype Co-Op Officially Done. Forever. For Good. Fin.

I remember when they announced the co-op mode of Prototype was cancelled.  They left us with a glimmer of hope, hope that perhaps they would come to their senses and add back in some sort of cooperative mode.  We all had visions of Crackdown in our heads, and despite a possibility of a sequel, this was as close as we were going to get.  But now a recent 1UP interview with Radical Entertainment's Chris Ansell, well it looks like there's no chance in hell.

 1UP: Is co-op still a possibility?

CA: We made the decision earlier this year to focus the development team 100 percent on the core single-player experience for Prototype, so there are no plans for multiplayer co-op functionality. We were really glad to see that the large majority of our hardcore fans agreed with us in making the decision to leave multiplayer out of this product and focus on the core experience.

I'd like to know what "hardcore fan" liked the idea of cutting co-op.  I had was clinging on to hope that the delay and publisher exchange would bring the mode back, but according to the interview there's not even a chance we'll get co-op in the DLC form.  Lame-o-rama.

Thanks rafoca

I'll be honest, it's going to be tough. I've got very little contact with that developer, and with them being foreign it makes it even tougher.

Hmmm... I understand.

I used to write e-mails to one of the devs before Two Worlds was out. He was a nice guy, but he was saying that Two Worlds would rock on 360. lol

I got his e-mail in Two Worlds Official Website.

I love this kind of game and I pray for Two Worlds sequel even if the first sucked (and, yeah, I bought it).

But thanks anyway, bape

Actually I believe them when they say "hardcore fans" agreed with this decision. To me, a lot of "hardcore" game players are loner single-player types or competitive multiplayer junkies with nothing in between. No love for co-op. Co-op seems to always be one of the first things that gets axed with a game inevitably gets delayed and the publisher needs to meet their FY2009 sales numbers.

I am sadden by this, but I agree, better to make a great game than a half-@$$ attempt at both. Now if only the first game is solidly done, will there be any hope for co-op.

Yeah, I don't necessarily just want co-op tacked on to a game to add bullet points to the back. If coop wasn't a priority for them, probably better that it died anyway, as it seems hard to imagine that it would have been well implemented.

That said, more developers just need to start thinking coop from Day 1 of development.

Xerxes says...
He made that shit up about large majority of fans. I'll see this game in the bargain bin.
