'Co-op Modes' good or bad for co-op?

Every month new games are released and they feature 'Co-Op' modes but is this really progress or a cheap bone to distract us

over the last year or so developer after developer has proclaimed co-op as the most important thing, but time and time again new games come, they announce Co-op and we all get excited then BAM!

We get the artical and the line 'Co-op removed to protect the nartive' and then we get some shoe horned co-op mode (99% of them are survival mode and half of them are basic at best) that dont add to the narative or to the expirance. I'm glade everyone likes horde, Nazi Zombies and Firefight but how about making new stuff (good job F.3.A.R.)

i dont mind the 'narative' excuse when it holds up, but games like COD where you are apart of the squad it doesn't. COD could easily surport co-op campaign even as an seperate story. Given Infinty Ward's love of killing player controlled characters that co-op could still be as imersive, lets remiagine (SPOILER) the MW2 ending, imagine being carried by/carrying your co-op partner and seeing the helicopters land and the relief that escape is close at hand, only to see you co-op partner get shot and you are powerless to help.

even (SPOILER) black ops could be co-op thanks to your imaginary friend reznov, imagine playing though an entire game in co-op and discovering one of you was never there.

my point are we happy with the 'co-op' modes when bounties like what i said are lying in wait!
