League of Legends Giveaway

Contest System(s): PC
Jason "OrigamiPanther" Love Monday 02nd of November 2009 12:22 PM

The package that Riot Games provided us with includes a League of Legends poster that’s been autographed by members of the development team, a League of Legends t-shirt (the winner can choose S or XL), and a code for the digital Collector’s Pack. So what all do you get in that digital Collector's Pack? Quite a bit:

- 20 playable Champions
- 4 special Summoner Runes
- $10 of Riot Points for use in the store
- An exclusive Digital Collector's Edition Champion skin - Annie

The poster included in this package has also been signed by:

- Steve “Guinsoo” Feak
- Steve “Pendragon” Mescon
- Tom “Zileas” Cadwell
- Shawn “Babaganoosh” Carnes

As we covered in our preview of the game, League of Legends allows players to pick from an array of champions to help them conquer the other team.  These champions range from the stealthy and DPS-based Twitch, The Plague Rat, to the magical and supportive Soraka, The Starchild.  So we ask you, if you had the ability to do so, what champion would you create?  Reply to this post with the name of your champion, a brief background, and what his or her stats/hero type would be (e.g., support, Arcane).  You can find plenty of examples of the kinds of champions Riot Games has already come up with, as well as the various stats/hero types, at the League of Legends website.  The winner will be drawn randomly from all entries this Friday, November 6th at 12:00 PM EST.  The contest is open to anyone so good luck!

Are we supposed to be creating ideas for individual skills too? or just say Bob the dragon slayer "bob slayed dragons as a child" (melee offensive)

Deriaz at 02:26 PM on 11.2.2009
Easy choice for me. ;D Doesn't look like they have anything like a giant robot, soooo. . . Something like a Warforged Titan would be cool. (Hope I did this correctly!)

Name would be Titan, for simplicity's sake. ;P

His name doesn't hold any subtlety at all. He was a machine created for front-line assault, and does a very good job at it. Having been "upgraded" multiple times, he no longer looks like a simple machine, but rather a mountain of metal that is ready to crush anything in its path with the giant hammer attached to its right arm. Its left has been modified into a large, arm mounted, great crossbow, allowing it access to a bit of ranged ability -- though it has absolutely poor ability at doing so, its creators thought it looked "really cool", so they left it there.

Having passed most preliminary tests, the time has come for a field test. And what better way to do so than to give the brute an army, and let it run wild. Sure, it may have the intelligence of a walnut, but walnuts don't usually have any other life goals other than to be eaten. And Titan is like a walnut -- all it wants to do is smash something.

Titan would, without a question, be incredibly melee and health centered. Due to the background and his construction, he'd be pretty weak defensively, and his magic would absolutely be terrible. He's a brute, not a mage. ;P This guy is not really for the strategy heavy players -- more along the lines for a new player who wants to just get in there and smash some stuff, while having a bit of fun. Like me. Though if played correctly, I'm sure this guy could be a powerful rushing/tank character.

Just some throw-away stats, that I think would be rather balanced:

Health 700 (+80 / per level) -- He's a big robot. Gotta be a tank.
Mana 75 (+25 / per level) -- Very feeble minded.
Move Speed 100 -- It takes a lot of effort to move that mountain!
Armor 20 (+5 / per level) -- Who needs defense when you've got a giant hammer?
Spell Block 10 (+4 / per level) -- Fireballs are a no-no.
Critical Strike 3.66 (+0.66 / per level) -- This guy excels at smashing! Gotta be high.
Health Regen 1.8 (+0.2 / per level) -- Tanks have good regen.
Mana Regen 0.4 (+0.1 / per level) -- Again, feeble minded.
Range 80 -- A hammer is his main weapon. Not gonna be much ranging to do.

No need to go into individual skills, although feel free to do so if you wish.

goatbert at 03:16 PM on 11.2.2009
His name would be Pony, and he would be a gigantic version of the Kangaroos from Bomberman for Genesis and his offensive ability would be dancing and wiggling his ass like those things did.

Devastating.

My character's name would be Tepbor, he'd be a mage. Probably a bit of a support character.

Sychath - Barbarian/Tank...dual wield, two handed weapons in one hand, standard health and strength buffs for magic, ability to take damage for teammates (in true co-op fashion).

Syphous at 08:20 AM on 11.3.2009
My characters name would be Sally. And he would be a sumo wrestler that eats children. Sometimes he makes ice cream with his mind. He gets over 9,000 to his Awesome skill immediately.

Gomu the Yordle Knight
Type Tank, support
Background
Gomu was a member of the Bantam Knights, a group of honorable and proud soldiers, until his squad was ambushed and defeated by a terrible Werewolf. Gomu fled into the woods as his squad was killed and passed out. When day broke he returned to the scene to find that all of his comrades had been killed. Gomu was so ashamed of himself that he refused to return to society and that he would get revenge on the monster; the Werewolf known as Warwick.

Well I've already got the collectors edition but that poster and shirt look pretty awesome!

Heres my character idea.

Name: Grendolf, The Flamebearer
Type: Offensive melee

Grendolf is a legendary blacksmith, forging some of the best and most well known armors and weapons of the land; Kayle's armor, Tyrandamere's sword, and Taric's shield. After years of hard work and dedication, he found the perfect techniques in forging and crafted the greatest armor, shield, and sword possible. With little demand for battle in his small town on the outskirts of the Demacian capital, his gear was merely a decoration. Until one day, when the noxus army trampled through his small town on their path of destruction. With little other options Grendolf took up arms, donning his newly crafted armor and weaponry. Reports came back to the noxus leaders of a small town that halted their army’s advances. It enraged their leaders that such a lowly town could even prove as much as a speed bump for their tyrannical onslaught. They set out to crush their little nuisance and sent their "human battering ram" Sion to finish what their armies could not. Grendolf, being a mere blacksmith had very little combat experience and was quickly battered aside and knocked unconscious when Sion showed up to destroy his village.

When he awoke, his village was destroyed and everyone he knew was dead. With no other cause left, he resorted to avenging the deaths of his family and friends. He took his armor, weapons, and knowledge of the forge with him as he ventured forth. Using his shield he can block incoming attacks or stow his shield upon his back, and wield his mighty bastard sword with two hands, increasing the damage dealt with each swing. With his shield risen, he charges forward smashing and dazing all enemies in his path. With his knowledge of the forge and fire itself, he can imbue his sword with flames, lighting enemies on fire, doing damage over time. Finally, his increased knowledge of the forge has taught him to wield the flames for other purposes, swinging his mighty sword forward and unleashing a torrent of flames and molten lava in a cone in front of him.

This game is so much fun, I love the fact that they constantly release new characters it keeps the game fresh at all times. I hope I win!

Edit: Thats it, just wanted to change it up a bit and add story background. Thanks!

Wewt! I was not expecting to be selected, honestly. Can't wait to see the poster and the shirt and everything in the mail!

I looked at their site again, too -- I didn't see Blitzcrank! So, this makes me happier, as there is a robot for me to pick. Wewt!

As I said in the PM, thank you OrigamiPanther, and the rest of Co-Optimus as well, for putting up these awesome contests for everyone. !
