Co-Optimus 2008 Co-Op Game of the Year
It should come as no surprise that Left 4 Dead is our Co-Op Game of the Year. The game exemplified a cooperative experience by simplifying things, and taking the basic need for survival to drive home teamwork. Solid graphics, great sound, and near infinite replayability all add to this title, but it's the sheer fun you have when playing with friends that make this the easy pick. Like nearly all of our editors have said - there's nothing else like it out there. So kudos to Valve, Turtle Rock Studios and everyone involved with Left 4 Dead. I'm sure we'll be playing it well into 2009!

I had forgot that R6V2 was released this year. Such a great game. Still, I would give the Goty to L4D. It's just too good.
If we broke this down by console, I would give the PS3 award to PixelJunk Monsters. Monsters has had some seriously lasting appeal. We've gone back to it multiple times.
Did you guys think about doing multiple categories? Seems like it would be nice to share the coop award wealth with a downloadable award, console specific award, etc. Especially since more and more coop games are being released.

I am unable to bask in the joy of Left 4 Dead, since I dont own a 360. I have heard oh so many good things about it.
