10 Games that Should Have Co-Op, At Least We Think So

There are many different types of games on the market for many different types of people. So, what designates which games can be played together, and which can not? We at Co-optimus.com tend to preach friendly co-op gaming, and notice many of the single player games out there feel somewhat cheated out of a quality co-op experience.
Some games had co-op left on the concept floor, cut out in the final stages, or some that seem to have missed the co-op boat completely. This is the Co-Optimus list of games that we feel could really use co-op for an improved gaming experience.

I wouldn't have fallen out if you were there to catch me!
10 - Fallout 3
The main storyline in Fallout 3 follows a child growing up in an isolated "vault" settlement established after the nuclear Fallout that all but doomed mankind. Suddenly thrust in to the ruined post-nuclear-fallout world in search of their father, it's up to this now-grown-child to solve the mysteries of that vault and their fathers experiments. This child can be male, or female, of any race. This could have very easily had a few minor changes for co-op, that would not have altered the storyline much at all - something like siblings, or even twins growing up together.
Co-op could have allowed players to flank enemy areas to clear them out more effectively, balance classes and powers, and even interact with in game characters with different approaches.

Wait, so there's three of us and only one of them?
9. Mass Effect
Managing a teams armor and stats can be great, but we're all guilty of ignoring one or two characters for the sake of our favorites. Mass Effect didn't have as many team mates as some other similar games, but three primary characters could have been a wonderful three-player-co-op experience. Tweaking those stats to bring each character to their full potential, and coordinating attacks with a friend to do the most damage in the least amount of time. Customizable main characters could have added a new spice to this game, with the added blight of sexual tension, or fighting for the spotlight!
Branching out a bit from shooter game co-op, leveling up individual characters and personalization would certainly add to an already amazing experience.

You wouldn't have many friends wearing this outfit either.
8. The Legend of Zelda Series
Links formula for the last 20 years has been 'underdog beats the odds to save the princess', rinse and repeat. Link has even had computer assistance in the form of an irritating fairy, and a trickster dubbed Midna. In Wind Waker players were even able to hook up a GBA and control Tingle, hardly an ideal situation though.
The one thing Link is missing, is the co-op aspect where a second player does some exploring to help Link out, or a backup character to cover his tail while Gannondorf gets ready for round 9. Mario had a helpful star on the Nintendo Wii, so why doesn't Link at least get a helpful fairy who can go explore areas that Link can't get to? Or, his very own Icarus that doesn't quite steal the spotlight, but offers enough support to be considered Co-op? The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords did the co-op very well why not bring it to his big brother?
How about Assassins Creed? Imagine the fun with two of you running over those roof tops - it may have even made up for its serious repetitiveness.
Blasphemy nothing could help the repetitiveness of Assassins Creed .
that's a pretty good list. you should make another list of co-op fails. fable 2 would be high on that list
I think that would have actually inspired me to play Mass Effect.
Spider-Man Web of Shadows would be good too. Black Cat has almost all the same moves in that game.
Mass Effect's *combat* would be awesome with co-op, but unless Bioware somehow managed to run multiple dialog trees accounting for each player's input, I just don't see how the story would remain engaging.
N3's lack of co-op was criminal, especially considering most of the game is spend side-by side with one (or more) of the other characters anyway.
Great article guys!
Dead Space 2 might have co-op though. If it does it better not have the same linear corridor action.
One game I WISH had co-op is the upcoming just cause 2, but it seems it won't. Co-op is so big now, It would have been a bullet point (like multiplayer) when they announced the game.
oh i completely forgot about that. i played the beta and had been keeping an eye on it but forgot about it after i found out there's no co-op. definitely would have gotten it if it had co-op. i'll second that!
I think Tenchu needs to take another stab at co-op. Tenchu Wrath of Heaven was an exceptional PS2 game. If you could have been two or three ninjas at once, it would have been quite the exciting battle!
I'll also say that I think it's time for a Half-Life co-op game. Given Alex's role in the last few titles, I think it's annoying to have to shadow her or have her snipe for you but you can't play AS her!
Fallout 3 Yeah!!! When I'm playing with it I always think about it that "Damn! This
should have coop "
Mass Effect Well... maybe in Splitscreen, or something, but one player would control
a partner, but only in the combat scenes.
The Legend of Zelda Errmmm... well, maybe it needs, dunno, but I can play it with single-
player without problems, and I'm still having fun. Still, if it had Coop I would be happy,
because it's a Zelda game
Dead Space HELL YEAH!!! Almost every Horror-game should have Coop, like this one!
Waiting for DS-Extraction, I will have fun with it
Call of Duty Maybe there will be in MW2... maybe... it would be AWESOME!
The Elder Scrolls See Fallout 3. When I'm playing Oblivion I always think of Coop. AND
it's somewhat done by Oblivion Reborn or Oblivion Online, it's still buggy, but one day
they maybe finish it and it would work perfectly.
99 Nights I only heard about this game, haven't played with it...
Killzone 2 Haven't played with it, yet I think it SHOULD have Coop.
Far Cry 2 I don't play with it, I don't like it (Far Cry 1 was okay UNTIL the monsters
came. That ruined everything...)
GTA YES!!! This should have Coop like Saints Row 2
I agree with every game mentioned there, but I must say that the most fun to play in co-op and the hardest to implement would be Fallout and Elder Scroll Series.
Man, I would love to play these games in co-op.
GTA would be great too and I donīt think it would be that hard to do, cause Crackdown and Saintīs Row 2 made it with success.
To be honest, we wanted to wait for post E3 to publish this one to wait and see if any new sequels of single player games were announced with co-op, to add to the final section. That way we were able to bring you as much awesome co-op info in one tidy package as we could! That, and we like to tease
We'll keep looking for more to add to another post similar to this, as well!
STAR WARS REPUBLIC COMMANDO
COD MODERN WARFARE
Co-op in these would be sweet
For me Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls and Fallout 3 only work solo. The other games, especially GTA and KIllzone 2 would work well as I don't care about the story in either.
Slow? That wouldn't begin to describe it. I have Mass Effect and love it, but with another player. it would just be boring. It's an RPG with lots of dialog. An character choices that would only affect player one and only player one could chose.
So it would be that no player, but player one could have a conversation with anyone else. Of course, I think that could be amended to the other players are forced to either be unable to talk to certain people or for vendors they would just stick to the sales portion and none of the personal questions.
Still, it's a game ruled by dialog (which i love) and co-op would not fit the style.
Of course, the sequel will have a mini-nuke like *puke* Fallout 3...so crap can come from anyone I guess...

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves on Playstation 3
Call of Duty: World at War on Wii
AI War on PC
Castle Crashers on Xbox Live Arcade
