MMO Co-Opportunities Volume XV: September 2011 (GW2, WildStar, and the Secret World) - Page 2

WildStar Online

An new MMO was announced at Gamescom, developed by Carbine Studios and published by NCSoft: WildStar Online. Beta sign-ups were also announced at the same time. WildStar sports a fun look, and when I first saw it, I was immediately reminded of Rachet and Clank - which certainly isn’t a bad thing at all. Players will be able to assume the role of humans, golems, or humanoids with tails and bunny ears. While there isn’t a ton of information out on it yet, it certainly looked to be a more action-oriented MMO, and I look forward to learning more about it.

The Secret World

This Funcom MMO has been in development for a long time. With an interesting premise (players take the role of an agent of one of three secret societies), the Secret World has attracted a good number of followers over the past few years. Beta sign-ups just went live within the past week, much to the excitement of some of my friends. I got burned pretty bad by Funcom’s last MMO (Age of Conan), which I’ve heard has since gotten a lot better, so I’m a little cautious about this one; however, I’m trying to keep an open mind and would certainly like to see more gameplay on this one in the months to come.

Pretty short issue for this month. What about you guys? Did your MMO of choice get any neat updates in August? Or have you received some updates on an MMO that you’re looking forward to that I didn’t mention? As always, let us know!
