Marc, you review is pretty much spot-on! The split screen in this Lego game becomes a huge hindrance in coop gameplay. You can best explain/show it in a mission with Batman and Superman when Superman needs to use laser vision. Unless Batman stands right next to him and removes the "split", it is nearly impossible to aim the laser vision where needed when split.

However, the game itself is by far more entertaining and enjoyable for our family than any Lego game going back to Lego Star Wars Complete. We just, often times, take turns playing individually :(

I like this the most of any LEGO game so far, largely thanks to the presence of Superman, the witty dialogue, and fantastic movie tunes. But I disagree about the puzzles being easier. I still got stumped fairly often and had to check videos online for solutions. I wish the puzzle elements were more clearly marked or there was a hint system of some sort. Plus, the puzzles just come way too often with not enough fighting for my tastes. Still a wonderful game for DC comics fans and patient gamers though!

Great review Marc. Playing this with my GF at the moment and we have played all the other games. This one has the great added open world, but this leads to some crazy splitscreen action that is more likely to split your head open. Each game in the series advances onwards, but never reaches greatness. I would still put this up as one of the best.

My wife and I were frustrated by the split screen elements as well, but it's a necessary evil when the characters can all move around so differently from each other. While it was crazy, I actually liked that my portion of the split screen represented my location relative to my wife so if we needed to meet up, we could. My biggest frustration was that when the split screen shifted, the targeting reticule would move rather than staying fixed over the element where it was aimed.

The addition of other Justice League members has been fun as well.

I thought being superman would be cooler that it was, but he's just bulk. In a puzzle game, I found pretty much al the other characters more uselful and usieng superman was just to get through levels quicker by avoiding puzzles in freeplay mode to unlock stuff.
And constantly hearing the superman theme song while flying around the city for gold bricks got real old real quick. And it had to be a character with heat vision to get alot of the gold bricks around the city, i ended up just going with black adam and bizzaro most of the game cuz I've grown to be very anoyed by that song now and I love comic book stuff

I've decided a fixed vertical split (at least on HD xBox and PS3 versions) is a MUST going forward. I'll deal with the limited view but simply find the current split implementation way to frustrating and limited for the family especially with younger players!

Didn't one of the previous Lego games have the option to change from a dynamic split to fixed?

I believe this is the first game without that feature, Slivers. Totally frustrating.

We are playing Lego Batman 2 on Wii. The co-op dynamic screen stopped working and it's now stuck in vertical mode. When playing with two people, even when the characters are right next to each other, there is a static vertical line right in the middle. I have no idea how or why this happened. I want the dynamic back! Help! Thanks!
