Post Wild Speculation - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Details "Leaked"

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare PS3 screenshot

Get ready for a plausible rumor with a less plausible source.

The internet is abuzz today with a rumor that many are calling "too good to be true". The live Twitter page that Infinity Ward set up as a suggestion "Tweet" collector pertaining to the not-yet-officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was adorned with a series of Tweets from someone who claims to be an internal play tester, and they were in a sharing mood. A full list of MW2 details has been spreading across the internet, promising a healthy myriad of both Modern Warfare and World at War features...as well as a few new surprises.

Gamers arguing that the info is credible point out that the culprit is now banned, and the Tweets are removed. Gamers ruling not credible propose that the Tweets were fake and were pulled down by the culprit as a courtesy. Either way, Infinity Ward is locked up tight.

Among the list are the following:

*Similar version to Nazi Zombies, however details are unknown

*NO guest players online, 1 player per console

*Offline/Online Co-op

*Release is set for sometime in November

*New army tags will be available to add different elements in campaign (similar to halo skulls)

*Campaign-only weapons

For obvious reasons, this portion of the list caught our eye. For the entire list in all of its extremely enticing glory, please click "Read More" and feel free to expect Infinity Ward to live up to the high co-op bar that is being set by rumors and Tweets alike...

I don't think that means no split-screen, just no guest accounts online. Probably like Gears 2, no guests in public.

If they don't allow guests online, that means they'll probably also be screwing us over (again!) by not allowing splitscreen when system linking.

what does that mean? That means this game will again not have features that other and older games have, meaning We (again!) won't be able to play 16-player system link multiplayer on 4 X-Boxes and 4 TVs. Even more stupid, like WaW they won't allow 4 players to play Co-op campaign splitscreen over 2 X-Boxes!

How the F*** do these new games get released taking away features that came standard on all FPS on the FIRST X-box?!

My mind is blown (in a horrible way)

Let me start off by saying that I don't mean this to be offensive in any way. But who in the world still does this?

Everyone's opinion is valid, I understand that. Seriously, though: is this really a staple that you want to see in more games?

I'd think LAN parties are still huge. Especially considering how big the college crowd is in gaming, that's how we used to get our Halo on back in college.

Granted online play is at the forefront, but it seems pretty simple to adapt that tech to local play. As for the split screen options, we've gone through it time and time again - it simply comes down to a time issue. Most devs would like to do it, most just don't have the time.

i started a monthly gaming tournament at my college about 6 years ago and i believe they're still doing it. the only games that made the cut were 4-player split screen at least.

i understand it takes more processing power for each player and textures have to be scaled down, etc, so its a lot of work. i just feel that publishers need to back off and let the devs make excellent games instead of a dozen mediocre ones. adding at least 2 player split screen is huge for siblings and spouses who like to game together.
