 RE:Resident Evil 5 Co-Op Review
The inventory annoyed me during my limited play as well - at least the healing is a one button action when someone is down.
Also, the comment about the gold is so very true. Kind of like rupees hidden in the grass in Zelda. Nice review!

Ah, upgraded weaponry, that makes sense. I'm guessing that the better weapons make the levels from the demo a bit easier? The kid and I had really been looking forward to playing this together, but the demo actually ended up really intimidating her and made her think it would be too frustratingly difficult for her to want to play.

The demo is a small subset of a level, and pretty much the "end" parts of each. By the time you reach it you'll have more ammo and some stuff upgraded.

 RE:Resident Evil 5 Co-Op Review
If you stick to Amateur or Normal difficulties things are a lot less daunting. My first play through was on Veteran, it really lived up to survival horror.

@roland: My girlfriend was intimidated as well when we started on Normal difficulty. I wanted to start on Veteran, but admittedly, Normal was hard enough, so we switched to amateur and have had a great time so far!

love this site, registered at last. great how you guys get involved with answering comments etc, and hope there is many bright things ahead for your team. as for RE5 the AI was ok for me up to last 2 boss fights, but its no substitute for awesome co-op mode. shame about the way screen was split, but oh well just have to sit closer and i understand their reasoning behind it. maybe i will do more co-op online with people from this site and wont have to split screen as much.

Re: [Review] - Resident Evil 5 Co-Op Review
Well done on the review. It's much better to read a review from a person with a co-op mindset. Other reviews have complained of "forced" co-op segments, but I'm at stage 2-2 and I've found all the co-op set pieces to be quite good. More and more it seems that people who don't understand co-op don't understand co-op.
I agree that swapping items from one person to another is a bit wonky. Wanted to trade a healing herb last night, so my battle buddy selected the item from their menu and hit the "request swap" option. I then had to go to my menu and equip the item I wanted to swap, walk over and then press "X" I think. Is this the easiest way to do it? Seems to me it could be more automated.
I also think the review could have made a mention of the chopped-up splitscreen issue. I don't find FOV to be an excuse. Army of Two and Gears of War have successfully adjusted the FOV to work for horizontal splitscreen. If performance is an issue I would glady accept a lower resolution if it meant I could use my entire HDTV for viewing. And at the very least they could stick the HUD elements in the black spaces on the sides.
Whining aside, the game is FUN, especially in co-op. The fact that the game is geared towards multiple playthroughs and allows you to keep your upgraded weapons as you go through the game multiple times is very cool. Looking to get some good mileage out of this co-op title.
