Post Trine: Co-Op Demo Impressions

In case you missed it, earlier this week FrozenByte released a PC demo for their upcoming three player co-op game Trine.  We took the demo for a spin and we're happy to report the game is very co-op friendly, very beautiful, and best of all - very fun.

The game starts out with a bit of a back story, fully narrated with some concept art style cut scenes.  We hear of a land put in turmoil after a king dies without an heir.  Soon magic turns from something that is used for good, to something that corrupts the land.  It's at this point we begin to meet our cast of characters.

The Demo was freaking awesome! I don't think i'll buy it though unless they actually implement LAN Coop Play.

If you preorder the game at gamesplanet you can get it 3/7, that's next week!
Don't know about steam though, it just says july.

Anyway, I can't wait for it!

I love Steam, so I'll be getting it from them even if it means I have to wait a week. Hopefully they won't be too behind gamesplanet.

This looks so much like the Lost Vikings, which I loved as a kid. I will probably go with the PS3 version, easier to do local co-op that way.

Yeah we pinged Frozenbyte about it and they said it's not confirmed yet.

So the game does sound fun and exciting and all kinds of awesome.

But Im curious. Does anyone has any idea how long the game will last, as in how long the campaign is? I mean, as Ive already said, $20 is steep for a PSN game, and those games tend to be short. Also, how will the replay value be? I mean, it sounds like each stage is a series of puzzles that must be solved in order to proceed. If this is it, then I dont see the game having a large replay value.

Am I wrong to think this?

In the demo, you can solve almost all of the puzzles in multiple ways. There are hidden items and secrets in the levels as well. Whether that translates into replayability is your own decision.

Given that the PC version will be $40, I imagine it will be fairly long. As for replay, it gives several options for dealing with pretty much every situation. I became fairly adept at using the mage for combat. (I don't recommend this if you're worried about death)

Hmmm, my interest is most certainly peeked. It sounds like a heck of a lot of fun, and as long as I'll be playing it long enough to warrant $20, I'll be sold. I can see myself going through and trying different things to make my way through the levels.

You know THE WIZARD had a certain reputation with the ladies...

That being said, oh my GOD this game leaves me speechless. SO pretty. SO awesome!

The root word of Wizard is Wise. Until he learns more than 2 spells, I shall continue to refer to him as a mage.
