 Co-Opticast Episode 22: Buy Trine

Co-Opticast Episode 22: Buy Trine
Believe it or not, this episode title is not a paid advertisement. Neither is the podcast. But for as much as we talk about the Trine demo and our enjoyment of it - well you might think Frozen Byte is kicking us a little something.
Mike and Nick dash at the latest co-op news, give impressions of Halo 3: ODST and a short review of Gunstar Heroes for the Xbox Live Arcade.
Finally there's a bit of demo discussion, and how a proper demo can be used to sell a game...like say...Trine. Hit the Podcast Page to Listen or Download

re halo 3 ODST new mombasa question.... there's a "Space Spire" or something (can't remember the actual name) that is an elevator to a space station so naturally it has to be near the equator. obviously that could be a good target for an attack.

Great cast guys. They have definitely been getting better as far as quality goes since I first started listening.
I must say, you guys are some great pitchmen for Trine. You make it sound sooo awesome, but Im still wary of it (those concerns I brought up in the Trine thread).
You are totally correct in saying that demos that have co-op in the actual game should have the co-op in the demo. Otherwise, its just silly. Also, I was totally turned off by RE5's demo but for different reasons (because I sucked at it), but when I gave in and tried out the game, it was totally awesome.

We had both Gamefly'd it, and we both plan to eventually purchase it, once there is a bit of a price drop. I definitely suggest checking it out. The demo did not give do it any credit whatsoever.

I had a similar experience to both BBB, Nick and Mike. I played the demo with my daughter and she hated it. But I went ahead and got it when it came out, and we have both ended up loving it. The demo just did a horrible job selling that game. The game is much, much easier than the demo, since you can upgrade your weapons and replay levels to stockpile heals/ammo. I will replay some levels on easy by myself to get a ton of ammo, that my daughter is well stocked and not stressing that she's about out of shotgun shells. On the New Mombasa thing, I actually kind of like that they've set the game there. I feel like I've spent enough time in US and European cities over the years. Although architecturally, I'm not sure how a futuristic New Mombasa would differ from say a New York.

If you're gonna set up a huge futuristic city in Africa, perhaps pick a city that people have a chance of having heard of? Cairo? Cape Town? Johannesburg? Marrakesh?

I've heard of Mombasa Out of curiosity, I checked out the Wikipedia entry on it. In addition to Smurphster's point, there's this gem that also adds to why Mombasa is a good historical location to use: "...in Swahili it is called Kisiwa Cha Mvita (or Mvita for short), which means "Island of War", due to the many changes in its ownership."

 RE:Co-Opticast Episode 22: Buy Trine
How is Prototype designed for 15 year old boys?
I like it, it does have rough spots, but as a concept and new IP, I fully support it. I think they just tried to do so much in a short amount of time.
About Halo 3: ODST, Mombasa is a GREAT location cause it tempts people like me to look it up. I love learning new things.
How odd would it be to fight in Finland? I know more about Africa then I do about Finland (I know its name, that's it).
