Zombocalypse Closer Than You Think

Postby OrigamiPanther » Sat Sep 19, 2009 10:18 am

Konami announced yesterday that their 4 player co-op shooter that's "Smash TV meets Left 4 Dead" will be released on the Xbox LIVE Arcade and Playstation Network next Wednesday, Sept. 23, and Thursday, Sept. 24, respectively.  The twin stick shooter that puts you and your friends in the middle of 55 days-worth (read levels) of zombie attacks will retail for 800 MS points and $9.99 on the PSN.  Personally, I'm looking forward to slaying a few more zombies before Left 4 Dead 2 arrives, and the idea of luring zombies into a wood chipper, as highlighted in the Playstation Blog's interview with John Slavin, sounds too fun to pass up.  A copy of the release announcement, as well as a gallery of screenshots from the game, can be found after the break.

I think ANY game is better than Hunter. That game just had a lot of things going wrong for it.

I am looking forward to this game though. I was hoping Burn Zombie Burn would have been my first zombie-killing game on the PS3, but I never snagged it after reading the horrible reviews. This one sounds much more promising.

Game the demo a whack. Doesn't feel as robust as I'd hope it to be. The Execution Style appears to be broken - I'm invulnerable while using it.

It's pretty decent. I mean, it's fun in short bursts. And it's pretty mindless. I'd say it's worth the $10.

Geometry Wars 2 is equally mindless, but gets way more frenetic just in the demo. The SNES port of Smash TV is, in my mind, the epitome of Robotron-style score-based arcade shooters. Weapon pickups, score pickups, and masses of fast-moving enemies, rather than a shambling horde of slowpokes.

(SNES port is superior to original arcade version.)

I'll probably get around to checking out the demo this weekend. Im glad theres a demo so I can judge it.

Just wanted to add how mad I am that the Punisher game demo is out this week on PSN. That game was pretty rough...I really wish they had popped out a demo the same day the game came out.
