Cell phone tracker

Postby justabaldguy » Wed Jul 25, 2012 4:52 pm

Got an odd request: anyone use a good cell phone tracker? Ideally it'd be where the phone auto updates its position, and (when desired) others could watch progress on a website. I was looking into InstaMapper which seems perfect, but wanted to check and see if any one else has tried this.
When I'm down I drive the hearse.

If you're talking iPhones, that's built in — there's an app called Find My Friends that lets you find out where your friends and family members are (if they've set things up to let you do so) and set which (if any) people you want to be able to find you. On Android, I'm afraid I have no clue.

On Android, there's Latitude. A word of caution though... if you're looking to have accurate, real-time updating, it will drain your battery very quickly.

Depends on your GPS hardware. On my phone it only uses 2% of the total battery usage - the same as the operating system. I have an HTC myTouch 4G Slide.
