 Re: Borderlands
I'll see if I can get a screenshot - I found a shottie that does 50x11 damage, has 80% accuracy and a decent reload. DEADLY gun... the accuracy is what does it. The aiming reticule is tiny! Even at distance it does good, and pair that up with the shotgun damage Soldier modifier thingy, and hot damn! I have passed up a few better damage number shotties simply because the 80% accuracy is the best I have seen and damn is it deadly. I sold Sledge's shottie when I found this thing...

 Re: Borderlands
Sledge's Shotgun didn't seem that great at first, but in the hands of a Melee Brick it's pretty sweet. That 150% melee damage bonus really brings on the pain, and at very close range the gun itself really packs a punch.

I have one that is 52x4 with a 12.5 fire-rate, That thing decimates dudes. With the large number of bullets fired and the massive spread, there's a high likelihood that one of them ends up a critical hit. It chews through ammo like there's no tomorrow, but it's totally worth it.

Another Double Anarchy weapon I came across actually from a different manufacture (I think Dahl?) had a whopping fire rate of over 15. WHOA. That is a bit too much bullets on one go with low accuracy IMO. As for the Critical, I just shoot and pray hoping that it does hit Critical before they die over in the next shot. But now I found this gun.

 Re: Borderlands
i thought the double anarchy weapons were nice, right up untill i saw their accuracy was about as good as shooting a bullet, then trying to hit that bullet with a smaller bullet, while blindfolded, riding a horse.... i seem to like the heavier hitting kinda slower fire rate guns. cuz hitting the target is far more important than putting out half your ammo trying to kill it.

 Re: Borderlands
Yes, accuracy is very important. Normally I don't like weapons that have such low accuracy. I use only Double Anarchy when up close, which is fairly often, playing as Brick.
I have combat rifles and rocket launchers for long range use.

 Re: Borderlands
yea, close range they are def nice, ill give them that, but when it comes to close i stick to my good ol' trusty boomstick (not the actual named weapon) with either corrosive or explosive traits. then again half the time im making sure im up in close range cuz i noticed that untill you get like weapon level 10ish the accuracy even if the weapon base is like 70+ can still kinda be lacking. gotta love it when ya shoot and miss when ya absolutely need to make that last shot, but then shot and hit when your just kinda running around messing about passing time.

Finally beat the game last night with a buddy. Pretty disappointing ending IMO but I am looking forward to going back and playing again real soon.

 Re: Borderlands
Well, after playing for a few evenings, I'm really having a good time with Borderlands. It took a bit until I really started warming up to it, probably around level 7 it went from "this is fun" to "this is bloody awesome!" I'm playing it through with Roland with Tam, Mordecai with Sierra and Brick by myself, just to mess around with different characters (the girls are both playing the Siren).
I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but it's a handy tip for anyone else playing splitscreen on an HDTV. On any HDTV, the game defaults to a vertical split. I can't stand vertical split, particularly because of the lack of side vision. There is no way to change splitscreen type in the game. But, if you go into the 360s settings and drop the video output to 480p, then start the game, it will use a horizontal split. This tricks the game into thinking you are playing on an SDTV. The overall graphics are degraded a bit (particularly things like shadow effects) and things are not quite proportionate, but I'm willing to sacrifice a few looks for gameplay that I like better.

Co-op tends to make the loot better I just kept looting and randomly found that. Wait, I think it was after killing Krom, or some boss in the game. Can't remember, but it was in a pile of loot after achieving some sort of big quest. Wasn't from any of the vending machines that's for sure.

 Re: Borderlands
The Spy I got was from completing a quest (one of Marcus' IIRC). It was a Combat Rifle, not a SMG, but it had the same ability.

 Re: Borderlands
I found a nifty Atlas-made shotgun that shoots rockets. Pretty good damage, and the rockets meant splash damage. Pretty good once you learn to aim at the feet. Only problem was trying to use it point blank tended to work a little too well.

 Re: Borderlands
I've tried the rocket shotguns a few times. Just can't force myself to use them. Not enough splash damage compared to real rocket launchers. Also, Zombies!: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/09/borde ... -xbox-360/

 Re: Borderlands
Great find JG! I'll be getting this for sure! Who wants to set up some Zombie co-op on that day? (check the meet up thread)
On another note, I found a great reason to keep Sledge's Shotgun. It kills Skagzilla DEAD! Seriously, after the Moe and Marley fight, I really expected Skagzilla to be rough. And he probably would have been without Sledge's Shotgun considering my 300dmg Rocket launcher with x4 Corrosive was doing little more than giving him a sponge bath. Sledge's Shotty on the other hand brought him down pretty quick. Just wait till he jumps, move to the side, and then run up to his rear section at point blank range and pull the trigger. As Borat would say, "very nice!"
