Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
So in the new issue of Game Informer some details were leaked.
It was mostly plot details which I wont post here due to spoilers and what not but there is one feature we can ALL look forward to.
Co-op! Woooo! I am so happy right now.

Well now that's unexpected, I'll certainly be curious to see how it's implemented. Seems like they could go a bunch of different directions.

 Re: Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
As I've mentioned before in one of my other posts, I think co-op can often ruin the atmosphere in a game.
While many people on this site would love to see the greatness of co-op in such a fantastic game, I think it will ultimately detract from whatever story they come up with.
I guess I should be thankful that I had the wonderful single player experience that is Bioshock.
It may be fun playing the new game in co-op... but I believe it will not have the same atmosphere.

It may be fun playing the new game in co-op... but I believe it will not have the same atmosphere. How many sequels have the same atmosphere as the original? I think co-op will likely give it a similar feel to L4D. The original game seemed to want to make you paranoid that at any second, something was going to jump out and inject your intestines into your lungs. And we've all seen what happens to the guy who wanders off to see what that noise was...

 Re: Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
Do you have the new GI? If you got the details from Joystiq.com, you might need to check again: evidently someone "in the know" chimed in and said most of what's going around isn't true...

I literally haven't looked at the details again since this morning. The details are pretty sketchy to be honest. I read it on the front page of Destructoid in my RSS feed.

 Re: Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
It won't be as creepy with another person killing Big Daddies with you, but who cares!? Co-op in BioShock? AWESOME.

 Re: Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
Looks like more details are popping up, so who knows what's right, but the latest I've read is you'll play as the ORIGINAL Big Daddy. Could be cool, as the source says you'll have the drill/arm thingy. If someone else could co-op as a Sister, that would be rad.

 Re: Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
I played through the first game as a rental from Gamefly and I enjoyed it, and if the second one is Co-0P I will have to put this on a diffidently get game list.

 Re: Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
I read the entire Game Informer article and there was no mention of co-op that I recall. I started another thread so we can discuss BioShock 2 way too much before it gets here, since the admins may remove this until the game is proven to have co-op.

Yeah, we'll have to put up another article when we get a chance saying it's not true.

 Re: Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
This was without a doubt one of my favorite 360 games, and the whole time while I was playing it I kept thinking how it would be so much cooler if it had co-op. I mean they don't even have to adhere to the fact that there's 2 people playing, it can simply be one of those games that the 2nd person is just there, but just playing it with a friend would be sweet. Also I really hope it's both online and offline co-op.

 Re: Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
I sure hope this is not true. I love Bio-Shock and I love Co-op, but I don't love the idea of Co-op Bioshock. I think this game is best left solo. Otherwise I think the atmosphere would be compromised.

 Re: Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
It won´t have co-op, unfortunately.
Let me say something: saying that some games wouldn´t fit with a co-op mode is the same as saying the devs are incompetent and lack imagination. Come on, guys... I remember when people said FPS couldn´t be done in consoles, how Resident evil would suck in co-op, and things like that... and guess what: these people were wrong.
For some games, even if it seems it can´t be done in co-op, all you need is a great team with enough resources and imaginantion and a good man to write a compelling story that would fit perfectly in co-op.
And why not make the old school way? Remember in Halo when you played with 2 master chief? You don´t have to, necessarily, make 2 distinct people with different stories in co-op. You can always make 2 similar big daddies to play the game, but only one showing in the cutscenes.

 Re: Bioshock 2 - Co-op!
I bet it would still be fun but I just think they developers would have to sacrifice atmosphere to make it work. In other words, they could make a great Co-op Bioshock game, but it wouldn't be great for the same reasons as the first. I like knowing you only have yourself to depend on in Bioshock. I think it makes the game more personal and creepy. I absolutely love RE5, but it drastically changes the experience having a partner with you.

But you wouldn´t be forced to play it in co-op as you werent forced to invite a friend to play on Resi 5 (I know that you always have a partner controlled by AI, but you had that in Resi 1 too sometimes). Resi 5 is so different of Resi 1 not because of the partner, but because is more of a shooter game now than a survival horror since Resi 4. A great thing about co-op is the ability to let you play the game alone or in co-op mode, making everyone happy regardless the way they play.
