 Re: [XBox 360] - Saint's Row 2
Why has no-one been talking about this game???
The girlfriend and I finally got our second copy yesterday, so as soon as the kids were in bed we were tearing up the streets of Stillwater and having an unbelievably good time!
Some highlights of our game:
We both had to get some new clothes, to replace our county oranges, so I went first, I got bored waiting for her, so I headed out to shoot some people. I got in a fight with some Ronin, and they started coming after both of us. I tried to keep them out of her hair so she could shop, but she ended up in a fight in the store, which sent the shopkeep running. She came out still in her prison garb and I exasperatedly exclaimed "I can't take you anywhere, can I?"
We hightailed it to a f&f and then went to another store. She went in while I appropriated a faster car. She was taking forever again (women+clothes shopping) so I sat outside honking my horn, until she told me that honking wasn't going to get her moving any faster.
We did some missions, and ended up playing way later than we had meant to. All in all, this game is a blast!!
For those that aren't aware, SR2 has FULL co-op. Each player gets their own private cutscene that features their avatar, so on each side of the game you feel like your the star. When you have missions, they are either shared goals with increased difficulty, or you each have the same task, in seperate areas. We only tried the fuzz activity, which had us both dressed as cops, working together, so one would assume that most activities are similar.
This game is a friggin blast!!

 Re: [XBox 360] - Saint's Row 2
I agree that this game is just fantastically ridiculous fun (if there is such a thing). I loved GTA San Andreas and I feel that this game is more along those lines especially given the Gang rivalry and taking over "hoods." I have yet to play the Co-Op yet, but the activities are a great diversion and I've heard the activities are even better Co-Op.
I've only done most of the Ronin Missions so far and there's still 2 more gangs to take out. I find myself reaching for this game every single time I turn on the xbox even though I just borrowed a whole slew of games from a buddy (I got my xbox recently) that I'm heavily interested in.
If you want an Over the Top, guns blazing, RPGs launching, helicopter/jet flying, open-world sandbox.. then you need to pick up SR2. Its like GTA4, but not so serious.
Why so serious GTA4?

And during the Fuzz mission, being left behind because a stray backup cop came along to bogart my seat in the car. Good times.

Why so serious GTA4? Until SR2, I couldn't put my finger on what I was missing from GTAIV. It was the rival gangs, and hoods. Driving through enemy "turf" and having random battles for no good reason is a blast. Aside from the cops and occasional citizen packing heat, there wasn't much random gun fights in GTAIV. And trust me, SR2 only gets enhanced when playing Co-Op. It's the same game, same story, same missions, same experience, but shared with a friend. It's a reaaaal good time.

 Re: [XBox 360] - Saint's Row 2
I tried running the ol' "Honey can I buy another xbox so that you and I can play more co-op games together" and she shot me down. It's not a money issue, but it's more like "it would be a waste since we rarely have time to sit down together and play.. I'd rather just be able to jump in and out when I want/can play"..
This led to the "Let's buy Fable 2" discussion that we had a few weeks ago.
Back on Topic: Buddy of mine bought the game last night and I'm itching to Co-Op with him later tonight. He hasn't even opened the wrapping yet so hopefully we'll both get a blast in the world of Stilwater.

The girlfriend and I tried loading up our game last night, but it was corrupt. We had to restart so all of our gaming last night was re-doing our previous missions. Still had fun though, just not as much. Take this as a warning, I'm not sure if it was a one time thing, or if we both should have saved the game, but beware corrupt game saves!

 Re: [XBox 360] - Saint's Row 2
I don't know if it was just me, or my buddy, but we had a pretty shitty time. It was glitching like mad. He would run down the hall like 5 times on my screen, people were warping all over the place, I couldn't hit anyone since they would blink in and out and fall down on the ground repeatedly. This lead to a frustrating time and made me want to just say, "I'm gonna go play single player."
We think it might be lag, but its weird since when I run far away from him, the game returns to normal.

If you have a chance, I want to try to Co-Op with you over Live to see if its the game itself, or if it's really just lag. My buddy's intarweb has been crapping out on him, so that could have been the culprit but doesn't really explain why it goes back to normal when I move away from him.

We think it might be lag, but its weird since when I run far away from him, the game returns to normal. That is wierd. J3nn and I were playing last night and other than the issue of the corrupt save game file, (which was likely because we didn't both save) we had a pretty smooth time. The one thing we did run into is in the first mission. Once we hit the docks, I jumped down rather than taking the stairs, I got the "you have to do this together" notice, so she jumpe down after me, fell and got hurt, then warped back up and had to jump again. At the same time, the stupid NPC was surrounded by cops so even when he got there, it didn't trigger. Eventually all three of us got to the boat, but it still didn't trigger. I just shot them both in the face so we failed and restarted, second time ran through fine, no glitches after that.

I've got no problems with that at all. Tonight might not work out, because I've got a buddy coming over to play RB6:2 local, from 8:00-10:00 (Mountain time), but if you're still around after that, or if I can get online for a bit before that, I'll be glad to! If not tonight, the weekend is a lot easier to schedule time in.

Keep your eyes peeled on your local craigslist. I got my 2nd 360 for $300. Included was: Xbox 20Gb Pro, 2 wireless controllers, 1 quickcharge kit with 2 batteries, 14 games including: GTAIV, Halo 3, Gears of War, Virtua Fighter 5 and some other big name games. It was an amazing deal, despite already a lot of the games. The catalyst for buying the second box was that we found ourselves with 2 big screen tvs (Finally won a long custody battle with my ex over my old tv). Once that hurdle was crossed, it was just a matter of waiting for a good bundle.

It's not a money issue though. I was ready to throw down the cash for a smaller, yet still functional TV for our bedroom (which we were planning on getting anyway) along with an Xbox Arcade + HDD combo so that we could play together, but she just doesn't see the point in it when she plays xbox with me maybeee 2-3 hrs a week.

Huh.. Time to take a play from Fable II and get a second wife? I can relate though. It took me a long time to find a girl who was open to gaming as much as my current one is. At this point, our co-op gaming has really solidified our relationship a lot. The downside (if you can consider it one) is that we rarely go out anymore, since it's cheaper, and usually more fun to just stay in and game. We do have lunch together almost daily though, since we work in very close proximity to each other.

Does anyone know of DLC possibilities? SR1 had 2 really shitty DLC packs, just some clothes and what have you. I imagine they'll gauge the success of the GTAIV DLC, but since SR2 has been so popular, they'd be stupid not to.
