 Re: Tom Clancy's HAWX
I am all over this game for the Xbox 360. I think this will have a bigger 360 following, as it seems much of the Tom Clancy community is on Xbox Live and Xbox. I am pumped for the 4 person co-op.

 Re: Tom Clancy's HAWX
Traditionally, I stink at flight sims. Must be that darned third axis. Looks like an interesting game though, worth a peek for sure.

 Re: Tom Clancy's HAWX
Does this mean that Tom Clancy's End War game that was supposed to come out this fall will be delayed? Has anyone hard anything?

 Re: Tom Clancy's HAWX
I haven't heard about any delays, but I do believe Hawx will be in EndWar. Some company is making them.
[EDIT]
Does anyone know if EndWar has Co-op?

 Re: Tom Clancy's HAWX
As a fighter jet geek I'm disappointed with the current screenshots showing aircraft carrying weapons that they cannot carry. In one of them you can see a Soviet Su-27 carrying the American AIM-9 Sidewinder missile.
This may seem like nitpicking to some people, but consider the shitfit there'd be if a tactical shooting game had the M4 carbine loaded w/ 7.62 ammo.
Whining aside I'm glad there's a new fighter jet franchise on the horizon and co-op is always welcome, of course.

Well, from my understanding some parts of the game will be you flying with a Private Military Contractor and they are not restricted to which weapons are on which plane. Unless, you know that that kind of plane cannot carry that ordnance...then ohh..... ----------------- The demo is out! Impressions?

No offense, but I found your Gamertag funny when I noticed it after reading your post... I don't know about fighter jets, so I can't complain about that particular detail, but I can tell you that Smith & Wesson makes an M&P that is chambered for 7.62 x 39 ammo. It's not in the online catalog, but I know of a retailer in Dallas that can get them from S&W.

 Re: Tom Clancy's HAWX
Keep in mind HawX is in NO WAY supposed to be a "Flight Sim." This is and all out arcade aerial shooter. If you want any sort of realism, stay away from this game. If on the other hand you liked old classic games such as Afterburner and Mach III, this might be for you.

 Re: Tom Clancy's HAWX
Impressions
I honestly expected more Ace Combat influence in HAWX... Don't get me wrong: there's a TON of similarities, but the semi-simulation is pretty much nil. Rolling sideways and letting go of the flight stick will make you drift into a dive in Ace Combat; in HAWX, your jet flies as straight as can be.
Personally, I prefer the more realistic flight, because I can drift my reticule ahead of a banking plane. Machine guns are basically useless in HAWX, because making small adjustments in your heading is more painstaking. Of course, this means that flying is overall easier.
Overall, I really like the demo. I haven't played it in co-op yet, which is going to tip the scales tremendously. Here's a list of pros and cons from my perspective...
Cons -- Even less realism. -- No high-G turns. -- HUD is too crowded and distracting. -- Support characters can be annoying (welcome to the Clancy universe).
Pros -- Control scheme is almost exactly like Ace Combat 6. -- There is NOTHING cooler than breaking the sound barrier in isometric view. -- Progressive rank system taken from Rainbow Six Vegas 2. -- Much more realistic landscapes, and cosmetic damage to building. -- Co-op campaign with drop-in/drop-out (DUH!) -- Yes, Marc, you can choose a pilot handle! Too bad it's limited to 5 characters...

The HUD is over-crowded, do we really need video feeds of the face of the person talking? Are you saying that HAWX is less realistic than a flight sim, or less real than Ace Combat? There's no way it can be less real than the AC series. Although, I did stall out the AV-8B..... All your pro's are dead on except I don't remember seeing cosmetic damage to buildings. That could just be something I missed or a feature they haven't shown in the demo. Does the character handle need to be unique? Or can there be more than one Red5? Either way, I'm really excited about this game, I'll always create a game when I play so that people can join in and we can rack up a few kills together.

Crash into a building sometime...the camera pans around and you can see the burns on the building. HAWX to me is less realistic than Ace Combat. At least Ace Combat tries to give some semblance of realism to gamers that have no clue (read: me!)... In HAWX, you can fly upside down without stalling, and sideways without drifting. Heck, even in Star Fox 64, turning sideways would make you lose your lift! Just doesn't make sense to me, but it's a very minor thing that I'll learn to overlook. The pilot handle doesn't have to be unique, I don't think. It's mainly just a "game save name", and I don't think it translates online. But I may be wrong.

 Re: Tom Clancy's HAWX
My mistake, I see the burn marks on buildings now. Personally, I wish it was just a little more apparent. I asked about the call sign because it rejected one of mine (Spike) and I wasn't sure why. Probably that it is used in the game, or maybe it is profane in some strange way.

F-4G? Seriously?? I'm all for destroying Gulf War-era SAM batteries, but it seems a little out of place in this context.

I went ahead and got the demo. I'm indisposed for much of this evening, but I might be free after 10 ET (no promises), or whenever you like after that.

I too am downloading the demo. Not sure if you will see me online with this game since I am not very good at flying games. But hey you never know this one just might be different where I just might be good at playing.
