Since Bio drooled all over the other topic about GoW2, let's keep this one clean! ;) I'm really looking forward to this one, it should be awesome.

The only thing I don't know about is replayability. After finishing GoW in co-op (never even played it single-player), I haven't touched it again. I really should, but there's not much reason for me. I don't care about the matchmaking aspect, and most people I know who played it already traded it in.

I am one who played it through once and traded it in. It was fun, but I didn't have any interest in playing through it again. Online, IMO, was MEH. I will be buying GOW2 though.

Yeah, and it's a shame too cause it looked like they tried to get something different other than the usual "kill 'em all" frag fest that most multiplayer games employ. Truthfully, I think games having co-op online multiplayer against AI setups is the way to go. Sure the main campaign on co-op is best, and there is a place for the matchmaking/versus modes, but what if you could play GoW in a co-op extinction type mode that GRAW2 offers? Just a few maps with real straightforward objectives, offering you to be either the Locusts or the humans, siding with other players over Live against AI. Could be neat.

I guess I enjoyed Gears more than you guys. I played through the campaign twice (once on normal and once on hard) and even started a third time but never finished it (started a game on Insane difficulty). Although the multiplayer wasn't the best, I enjoyed it.

I'm also planning on going back and playing Gears 1 some more. Probably closer to the release of 2 however as I have lots of other games distracting me at the moment.

I enjoyed it. I think I just got distracted with a bunch of other games that came out around the same time. I'm actually more interested now in getting the PC version and trying that one from the start.

I really enjoyed it, but don't like playing it by myself. I need to find someone else to try co-op with, so if you find yourself ready to play again Fiver let me know. I'll give it a shot on Insane. I was pretty decent with the longshot/Lancer combo.

Only a few more days until Gears 2 releases! Exciting time to be a gamer (Fable 2, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Motorstorm 2, Gears of War 2, Resistance 2). I dub thee the year of the deuce.

Anyone up for some coop once it releases?

I'd like to, but I probably won't have it for a while

I really enjoyed Gears of War, and share some of you all's sentiments about it. The game was a real treat playing through the campaign in co-op mode, and me and a friend went through the game several times this way and had good fun with it. I was not much of a fan of the multiplayer portion of the game as it just didn't pull me in. I'd either find myself dead in a hurry or the opposing team being killed off my one of my other teammates before I could even get near them. A lot of people I know loved the multi though, so I guess it's really just personal preference.

As for Gears 2, I'm broke as hell right now, but I'm getting it somehow one way or another, period.

Based on videos, reviews, etc, I will be picking up GOW2 next week. Seems like they have addressed issues that I have had with the game in the past, including improving online.

You will love the campaign. That is, if you thought Gears 1 was short.

I was also one who purchased GOW 1, played single player through once, and online twice and traded it in. I will not be purchasing GOW 2 however since there's too many great games out right now, and just like the 1st one, once everyone's played through the campaign once, they ruin it for you the 1st time you play it. ;) (not purposely however, but they'll be like "Ok this next part you'll want to hang on the left side since a train comes barreling through" That kills it for me.

I bought the game yesterday, but havent played it that much yet. The campaign has been great so far, but I would rather play co-op wth someone than alone. Also, I'm a noob so I'm currently playing it on casual (I beat the first game on casual with a friend). If I manage to beat it, I'll try it on normal... and maybe even hardcore someday...

The horde mode sounds really cool, but I havent tried it at all yet. The multiplayer deathmatch and team games dont interest me at all. I bought this game for the co-op campaign and horde mode.

I'm excited about the Horde mode. I wonder how long a group of the best gamers here could go?

Two people who beat gears 1 on insane got to level 10. Those beastriders require strategy we haven't yet discovered. We probably shouldn't have been trying to defend an area as large as what we were (One of the large buildings on Avalanche) with two people, but I'm not sure a smaller area would have stopped them from mauling us.

Bought gears 1 a loong time ago. Played it to the second act with a buddy in one night. Didn't touch it again until about 2 months ago when J3nn and I started playing. We made it to the 3rd act, and were really digging it, but then Saints Row 2 came out. We do plan on eventually finishing Gears 1, but Gears 2 probably won't be in the cards for us for at least 6-12 months.

Finished the Gears 2 campaign last night and came away super impressed. Not only is the coop (horde) mode a blast with up to four friends, but the single player/coop campaign is also fantastic. I highly recommend this game!!

This looks to be from about a month ago, but was new to me:

Dude built an actual Lancer, YouTube vids are linked above the pictures demonstrating that it works.
