Can't say much about this as it hasn't come out yet but I'm really looking forward to playing this with my boyfriend when it hits stores.

The latest trailer I've seen looks quite promising. I really like the way they're approaching the game from the ground up as a cooperative effort on the part of the two soldiers. I hope it's not too finicky though. On one trailer, it looks like the guys are bullet proof and I rarely saw them reload. If they'd make it a tad more like Gears of War with the damage taken, it would be a blast. I really got use to using strategy in GoW vs Halo or Mercenaries, and this game looks (again from the very brief trailers I've seen) that it might be a tad too forgiving.

Course, it might just be a testing option to show the game mechanics. The shots I've seen of one player holding a shield and the other firing overhead looked unique and innovative. Can't wait to try it, hope a demo comes soon!

The last video really sold my friend and I on this game. Looks like good fun. Co-op can make a less than stellar game all the better :)

this game has been in my radar for quite awhile, but all the delays make me nervous it may end up being a bit lackluster.

gotta say though, i love the box art.

An early preview several weeks ago said the game was basically crap. Controls weren't good, the dialogue was very poor, and the mechanics lacked polish.

Apparently, however, the game is getting a reworking before release... so hopefully a lot of that gets sorted out and fixed before it hits the shelves. I'll be checking reviews on this one before I buy though, that's for sure

There is a full list of game achievements out for the game now, and update video impressions of the retooled game.

I've posted both on my blog, so click the link below if you're interested. I think things are moving in the right direction.... and I really do want this game to be good.

Thanks for the vid DarkBlade! I have to say I too really want this game to be good, but right now I'm far from convinced. The AI looks really weak (watch the portion where the two players are charging ahead with the shield, and the enemy soldiers just run right up and wait to die) and the player characters seem quite bullet resistant! There needs to be a good balance, and while traditionally your character ALWAYS can take more damage than "bad guys" I think this is a little too much.

I'll certainly want to play the demo through a few times before deciding to buy the game.

Depends on what you are looking for in a game. Mindless killing can be fun, especially in co-op. As for the bullet resistance of the characters...perhaps that's just a difficulty setting?

All I want is a nice co-op...good controls...nice graphics...and decent length.

VERY true! Sometimes that's all you're in the mood for.

That's my theory, that or a sort of debug/cheat mode where they can test/demonstrate the game play. I'm hopeful that there is something to let you adjust the amount of damage you can take.

True again! I'd even exchange length for anything that alters the playthrough, like different enemy positioning (like Tenchu 2 offered) or different enemy types even.

You know, that should almost be standard in shooters. I would love the ability to have random spawns...something to keep you on edge. It gets a little boring in games like RB6 where, on some levels, you know where the enemies are going to be clustered and you race to those points and secure them almost without thinking.

I really like the co-op elements I've seen in the Ao2 trailers. One guy holding the shield while the other shoots, the back-to-back move, etc. Should be really good. I love doing Halo 3 on online co-op, but aside from the vehicle portions it's pretty much everyone firing at will. Not that exciting.

Yeah, this is certainly a game I'll be either playing the demo on, or renting before deciding to buy or not.

I'm just REALLY hoping they make it good. I'd like to see more GEARS style damage levels. That at least felt a little more realistic. These guys look like bullet sponges at the moment.

i am really looking forward to this game. hope you can turn blood/gore off etc as i would love to play it with my son.
we have played all the halo games through on co-op and we love it.
would be nice to be able to turn off swearing in games as well as blood/gore etc, have the old 'bleep bleep' system :)
some games were not that violent and more cartoony (crackdown) but had enough swear words in there that i didnt want my son to play, kinda sad really as crackdown is not a serious, realistic game but the devs prob felt pressured to put in more 'adult' words to please the more hardcore teenage players

i have seen threads on forums that some gamers will not play certain games cos the gore has been cut down etc, WTF is that all about! i actually always turn off gore fx etc plus i dont think blood etc makes a 'good' game

Nice post lockon. At times I miss the old Nintendo (8-bit era) stance on violence. For the longest time you couldn't "kill" humans, only monsters, robots, fantasy creatures, etc. I don't need uber blood and guts, but a little amount here and there keeps you in the game. It's odd that in Halo (any title), a direct hit from the rocket launcher leaves your body in the same condition as if you'd died from a pistol whip. Yet other games, PC games like the Unreal series, have all different types of glib. Gears of War was over the top at times (sniper shots!) but it seemed in the general theme of the game. Had you put those effects in a WWII shooter, I think it'd be ruined.

As for profanity, I hate it. I don't swear myself, and I hate it in games. It ruined GTA:San Andreas for me, it's turned me off on Kane and Lynch, and it's a general deterrent on which games I'll pick in the future. Granted, I'm a tiny minority in the world of gamers, but I really like your idea for an option to turn it off. Even replacing swear words with bleeps or just ducking them out all together would be fine.

To tie this back to our discussion (and not get us modded), I'm hoping Army of Two will have a realistic enough feel to be believable but I don't need Quintin Tarentino (sp?) levels of blood and dismemberment OR vulgarity.

thanks justabaldguy :)
yeah i hope army of two is friendly enough to be able to play with my son, i mean i dont mind fantasy violence but like you said some games are wayyyyyy over the top
( i also got half way through kane & lynch & stopped cos of the stupid repetitive bad language and the 2 most unlikeable characters in video games)

come on army of two, be universally appealable to everyone please :)

I don't personally have a problem with profanity in games (I use profanity OUTSIDE of my house, and never in front of my son), but I hate the fact that it's in games that really don't need to have it present....as it makes it so that I can't play that game around my son, and it limits the games he can play. Him and I will play Rainbow Six Vegas coop, but I turn the volume all the way down so he can't hear the F bomb...which happens over and over. I never want to have him hear swearing by me or my wife, or on my tv...not in my house.

I know the game is rated M, and that is my choice. I just don't think it's necessary to add the profanity. It doesn't make the game better, and it certainly would probably remove the M rating if they removed that and allowed you to disable blood.

Post Re: [XBox 360] - Army Of Two
i agree! R6V & COD4 if you could turn off the blood are no more violent that watching a cowboy movie on TV, & i think they are fine for younger kids to play IF they know these are games and not connected to real life (i always tell my kids this :) )
but like you said, these games throw in the F & B words a lot for no reason just to make it more adult and get that T rating???

i know i mentioned crackdown above, but apart from a little blood, the gameplay and cel shaded visuals are perfect for kids, its a kind of superhero game after all, but again they throw in some swearwords which if i remember correctly are spoken by the crowds on the streets! cant understand it sometimes what the devs are thinking or at least have an option to turn off swearing like we mentioned above! :)
