Post BE WARNED: No local co-op!
The box is misleading and the co-optimus table is wrong.

There is no local co-op for CoD! There is only local deathmatch. You cannot play the single-player storyline with multiple people on a single console.

Great single-player game! But not a co-op game.

Are you sure? I saw split screen play at E3 of it.

Sorry! I got confused.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has no local co-op. That was the game I was talking about.

It looks like Call of Duty: World at War is a different game. So it's possible it does support local co-op.

Sorry about that.

I wonder if it'll be the first CoD to have BOT support... It seems like such a common sense thing to add to a multiplayer game now-a-days.

Does anyone know if they plan on patching the split screen no save problem?

I haven't heard anything yet unfortunately. They did however unlock the zombie mode for all to play. I have the game on the PS3 as well, now I'm not sure if it'll save your progress if you play through it online either but if you need someone to play, I'm game.

I would also be interested in some COD co-op. Let me know if/when you would like to play.

Ha! Cool. Yeah, I've been on the fence with this one... I'll add it to my gamefly "Q" and give it a shot... If I end up liking it, I'll keep it and play with you guys.

Is it fun? I hate to go back to WWII yet again... I really wish they would push one of these modern warfare into future warfare and get some interesting weapons that do crazy things... Maybe I'm weird.

Also, does this game swear a lot? It really annoys me when the people are dropping f-bombs all around me... I know its more realistic that way, but it just bugs me.

I was also hesitant about this game going in, but it proved very enjoyable. Even if you think of it as COD4 with a new skin, it is a tight and polished game. Gary Oldman's voice acting, in particular, is fantastic. Think of it as COD4 gameplay with co-op (and WWII weapons).

No swearing beyond the occasional "d*mmit" if I remember correctly. I am with you on the gratuitous harsh language that some games employ. Maybe the designers figure it is going to be an M rated game anyway, why not throw in some swearing? The Killzone 2 demo has some very blatant and unnecessary f-bombs. If anything, the demo suffers for it.

Did they ever patch the problems with split-screen co-op for this game?

If you are talking about saving your progress in split screen co-op then the answer is no.

You can play any level that you have unlocked by playing in one player mode.

Wow, I don't understand why they didn't fix this! So you must finish the game in single player and can only play co-op locally with the missions you have unlocked? Really lazy developers.

You can play through the levels without having played them in first player but the game does not save co-op progress. So if you play through half of the game in co-op in one night, your progress wont be saved, so the next time you boot up the game, you would have to start back at level 1. now if you had also played through half the game in the one player mode, then you could go into co-op mode and select any of the levels you've beat in single player to start off your next co-op game.

OR
You can do what I did. I downloaded a save file that had the game completed, and then I created a new account on my PS3 (this is important because if you load it into your personal account, it will disable trophies) and loaded the save file on that account. Then any time I wanted to play co-op with my friend, we just use that account. That way we can play through without one of us already knowing whats going to happen.

I do have to caution you that the game is pretty short, so unless you plan on playing it through multiple times or playing online deathmatch, you may not get a lot of miliage on this one. My friend and I beat it in two nights.

EDIT: I should also mention that this game does have the famous Nazi Zombies mode, but my wife doesnt like playing it, and my friends like campaigns more than standoffs, so they dont want to play it. and the co-op is tied to either 2 locally, or you and 4 people online, so local play is limited quite a bit. It would be nice if you could meet up with other people online while playing couch co-op.

Thanks for the info. I think I will skip this title. Hopefully Borderlands will be the first-person shooter I've been waiting for :D

Cod:WaW was one of the best war coop titles online, but it's probably not worth it to pick it up this late as hardly anyone plays it anymore... I still own and would probably play it when I had the time.

I dont own the game, but I did download the demo from PSN today. According to the icon in the display, its a "co-op" demo. I'll either check it out tonight or tomorrow morning.
